Hello,

Plz read this.

Hi Herbert,

I share your opinion on the MS Word document format. At the Dept for
Informatics here at the University of Oslo it has been a problem that
people send you MS Word, MS Powerpoint or even MS Excel files assuming you
are running MS Windows of some sort. However we are not (and with good
reason..), we have found that Staroffice by Star Division (recently
purchased by SUN Microsystems and available _free_ for Solaris, Linux,
Macintosh, Windows (maybe I forgot some) are able to import _and_ export
MS Word, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint formats.
It has worked for all files which I have received, no files has failed to
work, but the layout has been a little different on some MS Powerpoint
files.

Unfortunelately it's not available for Amiga, most likely never will as
it's pretty resource demanding and would probarly be slow on even a
PPC604e-233. It might be a solution if you have another machine besides
your Amiga as it handles quite a lot of formats.

If someone is interested it was available for download from www.sun.com

Kind regards

Deron,

I have't seen anyone else mention this but ever since we got into the PgS
4.X for Mac we've had the problem of an extra sheet being fed through the
printer after each document. Can you look into this?

Mac OS 8.6 - HP Laserjet 4MV - These haven't changed since PgS 3.X

Thanks

Actually, it is a problem related to the 8.6 and above PostScript printer
chooser device on the Mac.

Are you saying we have to live with it? Would this happen with other PS
using software such as Corel Draw?

Is there any simple workaround that is better than taking the blank
sheet out of the OUT tray and puting it back in the IN tray <g>?

You'll get paper jams if you do that. Use it for rough paper.

No, you don't have to "just live with it"! I'm just telling you what I've
found out so far. I'm working on it, but until then, you can install an
older chooser device (and just use it with PageStream).

We didn't mean this in any negative way. Sometimes in life there are things
one must live with. We're adaptable. Thanks, Deron.
