I just bought Art Effect in January. I was dissapointed that it did
not do GIF. It gives the reason as that it is a "full color" program
and GIF is 8 bit, so it would not make sense to support GIF. Of course
that is nonsense.

I don't remember if it did TIFF, but I think so. You can use Xv and
probably others to convert.

My copy of Art Effect 3 certainly loads and saves in GIF. I just checked to make
sure.

Remember that, as in Photoshop, you have to reduce the image to the
Indexed Colour (ie 8-bit or less) mode before you can save a GIF. This
is in the Edit menu.
