Is there any way to redraw the screen without zooming in or out?
Often, frameless text objects will distort when moving them around.
The zooming works, but a key combo would be nicer.

Running Pagestream3.4 on an A4000.

There's a screen update macro. It is in the script pallette that comes with

And you can put a macro icon on your toolbar to activate it.

I tried F10 but find that after using it a couple of times the Amiga
freezes up forcing a reboot. Does this happen to anyone else?
I'm running Pagestream 3.4 on a Directory Opus Magellan II Workbench,
on this A4000, WarpEngine with a Retina Z3 and CyberGraphX4.

I've never had any trouble with that, but I have had a few lockups when
scrolling the screen. Are you using mcp's redraw patch? fblit?

Could be Dopus or CGX ??? I can use it repeatedly here with no problem
on either the 1000 or 4000, but the 4000 is not running Dopus and runs
on Picasso 96 with a PIV.

I have no problems with repeatedly using the F10 screen refresh in PGS4 using
DOpus Magellan as WB replacement on an A4000 with P96 on a PIV.

As I understand it from Deron the only difference between PGS3.4 and PGS4 is
that the former uses exactly the same code but without the extra 'twiddley
bits' compiled in. So our PGS4 experience should be relevant to Greg's problem

PageStream freezes up for me a lot... especially during a save.
When I reboot, the "newest" version has not been saved. This
happens about every fifth time I use PageStream3.4... it is NOT
consistent, other than it happens when I am using the menu.

I still use PGS 3.4r4 and I have very little, if anything, in the way of
lockups. Using F10 is no problem at all.

My computer at the office is an A4000/040-25 with a Spectrum running
CyberGraphX4. The computer I have at home is a towered A1200/060-50 AGA.

PGS gets used heaps on both computers and as I said I really don't have a
problem with lock-ups. I don't have a lot of hacks running, maybe that is
it. I don't know.

Do you run it on its own screen? When I get a chance I'm going to give
that a try. I have always run it on the Workbench.

Probably the cause. I DO have a number of hacks installed.
But, I have deleted them and still had problems. I have
added them one at a time and seen no change. Needless to
say, I haven't a clue, but then, what else is new??? : ))

I wondered about whether or not it was because of the shared
screens, do I have gone to PageStream having its own screen.
No difference. I DO have to say that since I took out
Magic Menu I have had LESS lockups, but only about half as
many. I still get them almost daily. Sometimes, as in last
night, every fourth or fifth time I saved a document, I had
a freeze... and the "new" version would not be saved.

A little frustrating, but I am learning to save more often
and do less changes before I save. Slows down production,
but at least it is "safe". : )))

Seems like you are having really nightmares... If I would be you, I'll
reinstall: AmigaOS from stratch, then clean StartUP seq. and again reinstall
PageStream. It will definitelly help.
I had a lots of problems with OS3.5 and I found at the end - what it was:

I had in LIBS: directory 'datatypes'. When I deleted it, everything is working
perfectly now.

If you think to install OS3.5, from CD install 3.1 and THEN over it, 3.5 [make
a backUP of whole partition to another]...

It must work, believe me Smile I had horrible problems, all because datatypes...

I don't know what can be the cause of your problems. Personally I
have no such problems using PageStream. Do remember that both
MagicMenu and especially MCP and their patches often is the cause
of many problems.

Try running PGS from a clean OS install, and then expand from there.

I did, but the OS was so boring I just had to add things... ;)

With a clean, freshly installed 3.1, it still happened... but a
