Had some problems with importing HTML into PageStream 4.0r7 Amiga.
The desired file was an HTML attachment to an e-mail (basically,
a repetition of the original message, but with some added formatting).

PageStream 4.0r7 refused to recognize the HTML file, so long as it
started with the following line:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">

With that line deleted, so that the file started with

<HTML><HEAD>

then Pagestream recognized it as an HTML file.

When the text was displayed, all spaces were deleted.

The original HTML file looked like this:

<DIV><FO
00C0: 4E542066 6163653D 41726961 6C207369 NT face=Arial si

0130: 3C42523E 69732074 6865206C 6974746C <BR>

Exporting the text from PgS4.0r7, that same segment of the file
looked like this:

0B20: 0101007F 00010054 48454C49 54544C45 .......THELITTLE

The <space> characters have all been deleted. This hasn't happened
with other HTML files. Why does it happen with this one?

Hi Geoffrey,

After all that I tried with HTML in PGS, it looks like it takes out
all spaces if the text is not a paragraph (doesn't start with the <P>
tag). Same problem happens when exporting from PGS. <P> looks alright
in the doc, but for instance an <H3> has all the spaces taken out.
Good thing Deron is listening, I'm sure this will be fixed soon, now
that you brought this up! Smile))
