Hi,

I'm in the process of creating a marriage newspaper and have to format
poems. The lines lenghtes differ a lot and I would like to force
justification.

I tried to set the character and word tracking to higher values
(e.g. -50% - 50% instead of -20% - 20%) but saw no difference at all.
I am using PageStream 3.4ß9.

Help highly appreciated.

Ingo

You can only justify (in any program) lines in a paragraph, not single
lines with a linefeed at the end of each. For instance, the last line
of a paragraph will not justify.

All you could do would be to insert spaces by hand between the words.

It would look terrible, IMO.

In a non justified line, PGS always takes the optimum tracking. Don't
know if this solution was already in PGS3.4, but in 4.0 I can get the
effect you are looking for by

1. selecting the line of text.
2. select Type->Tracking from the menus
3. change the value in Track amount of the requester
4. repeat 1-3 Smile

I hope (for you) that this also works on 3.4, I really don't know
(jumped from 3.4 to 4.0, and never asked for access to the secure part
for 3.4 after the first release of it).

That's exactly what I wanted to prevent as it means a lot of work. Thanks
for your help anyway ...

OK. Thanks. Thought there was a way of avoiding manual tracking for each
line Sad

Have you tried to use shift-return or <\n> and the end of each line. This
will make each line a part of the same paragraph ...

Steps 1 and 2 as above, but
Step 3: Set the "Last Line Flush zone" greater than the column width
(tip 57 of 92 in PGS 3.3a).

Actually, what you need to do is take a look at the Type->Tracking
requester. In that is the feature "Last Line Flush Zone" and by default it
is 0" (or 0cm or whatever). So if you want any last line that comes within
the last 1" to go ahead and justify, then set Last Line Flush Zone to 1".
If you want _every_ line to justify, then set the value to something
greater than the column width.

Thanks a lot Deron,

I also got an equal message from another user. Unfortunately I was not
able to find that hint in the manual of Amiga PGS 3.4ß9. A content
sensitive help would also highly appreciated.
