They was it operates by default, pages are shown one below the next. Open a new document, then in the drop down menu select layout/page setup, in then dialog/requester the opens there is a button next to the default master page drop down, click to open.
In the dialog/requester that opens there are two check boxes, double sided & facing pages, check both of those. That should do it... just go to page two to see pages 2 & 3 side by side.
