Greetings first!

Here my problem:
Since I upgraded from Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 LTS Pagestream5 does not
work anymore. When I shutdown my Computer lateron I get the Question to
really shutdown even Pagestream5 is still running. Before I did not get
any indication that it is running.
Any info, what to change? There were no problems with 10.04!

Sorry Rodney, I am in hospital rightnow and have no access to my home
computer where all my mails reside. I am trying to use my laptop here.

Same answer to Bonney Dalzell.

Thank you Theo, I could not find library with name "/libgnomeuimmxxx/" .
Where to get it?

Thank you all for your answers.

Oops, not good at all Heiko and Bonnie!
I hope this works all right...

Heiko, I do not have any idea about "/libgnomeuimmxxx/".

Heiko, this is one of the answers Bonnie send:

I hope this helps. Maybe it is a problem with 32 and 64 bit systems, and
PGS of course.

Theo - take care

A general tip if you have problems with a program not running is to start it
from a shell.
In pagestreams case: /path/to/pagestreamdirectory/Run-PageStream5
(replace /path/to/pagestreamdirectory/ by the path to your pagestream)

You will then have some text in the shell that some library is missing. Then
go ahead and install that library. If you are using an rpm-based distribution
you can go tohttp://www.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php and find out what
package to install.

I hope you get better soon!

It looks like you are on Ubuntu so doing something like:

> sudo apt-get install libgnomeui-0

from the command line should do the trick. I'm afraid I'm no good for GUI instructions on this: I don't use Ubuntu and on debian-derived distros I almost always use the command line for installing packages. What I recommend is doing

> aptitude search libgnomeuimm

(or the equivalent in your package manager of choice). On my (older) Kubuntu install I have libgnomeui-0 and libgnomeui-common installed, but not libgnomeuimm.

Also from a command line you might try (after switching to the directory you have extracted PgS to)

> export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:`pwd`/SoftLogik/lib
> ldd PageStream5 | grep "not found"

This will result in a list of libraries PgS needs that it can't find. For example:

> libSoftLogikDisp.so.1 => not found

BTW, if you see my example of 'not good' then the 'export LD_LIBRARY_PATH…' command I gave you didn't work right. From this list you know what needs to be installed -- you can search for the package using aptitude or your manager of choice. Just specify the first part of the library name, not the whole thing. For example: search for 'libpango' not 'libpango-1.0.so.0'. The version number may or may not be specified depending on how you are searching.

Given the way the Gnome crew and Canonical have been making gnome ***** there may be a package difference on Ubuntu 12.04. Unless you like what has been done to gnome on Ubuntu 12.04 you might want to consider Kubuntu 12.04 or Linux Mint. My dad just switched to Mint and likes it quite a bit.

Just beeing home for a weekend I updated my ubuntu 12.04LTS to kernel
3.2.0-32generic #51 .

BTW I followed your advice and installed xubuntu on a separate partition.
Looks good so far. uopdating to the same kernel as above wikll show if the
old kernel was the culprit-.
Will let you know next weekend

Being back home I installed the libgnomeui with synaptic.
And now all is running perfect.
