Hi all,

I am posting this on behalf of Anthony Hoffman regarding Amiga Pagestream 4.1.5.6
It sounds vaguely familiar. Anyone have a solution?

Hi Ernest,
Long time, no see. Was wondering if you might be able to help with a
Pagestream problem I always seem to have with Amiga version 4.1.5.6

When I have a text object (i.e. click anywhere on the pasteboard and type),
then I use the pointer object to copy then paste the object, usually the text
size or font gets screwed up in the copy. E.g. it suddenly changes from
Triumvirate normal to bold and/or the size will change from something like
10pt to 20pt. There is no style applied to the text.

How do I make copies of a text object keep the same font details? It's a
major pain in the arse when you're copying a lot of individual objects and
you have to keep correcting the font parameters.

If you don't have an answer, would you be able to post this in the PGS
support group? I'm having major problems with my Yahoo account at present
and can't access the group.

Many thanks,
Anthony.

Tried this in 5.0.5.8 pro, interesting results.
the paste operation yields a text frame, with no text, and no ghosted frame outline (used for placement) like the original.
in my first attempt i tried undoing the copy paste, this resulting in an abrupt exit of pagestream.

Ok i just tried the duplicate and transform options, these work correctly. I'm wondering if the copy/paste is using the os's clipboard rather than pagestream's (if such a beasty exists in pgs)

OK, I just identified the issue, although I think it's actually a bug. Anthony
sent me a sample document and I tested it and found the same behavior
he described. But the same problem did not occur on my own, brand
new document!

Anthony said he had no styles applied, but actually he did.
It's a paragraph style, and it's a "Subhead" style. The subhead
defined font size is 18 point bold.

Copying and pasting the text object results in it reverting back to
its defined style specifications.

When I select the text in one of your his boxes, then set it to "No Style",
then copy and paste the text object, there is no problem.

Actually that would seem to me to be a bug in that version of
Pagestream. Because I don't think it should work that way.

The same behavior exists in Pagestream 5.0.5.8 demo under Mac OS X.

If one duplicates the text object instead of copying and pasting it,
then the issue does not occur.

The clipboard is always the operating system clipboard, PgS does not have one. However, duplicate and transform do their work entirely within PgS and so do not use the clipboard. This makes them more efficient and use fewer resources. It also avoids the occasional problem with PgS's use of the clipboard and so they are also more reliable.
