At least with PgS 5.0.5.8 on Linux I have encountered a problem with font embedding saving to PDF. Depending on just what settings were used various incorrect characters are displayed when viewing the PDF with okular. The characters at issue are multiply, divide and minus. The closest I got was with no embedding -- the minus characters were not displayed at all but the others displayed correctly.

I moved the document to OS X and used PgS 5.0.5.9. The PDF created from that displays correctly in okular so it would appear to be a fault in PgS 5.0.5.8 and/or platform sensitive.

For what it's worth the font in question is Times New Roman.

Can you do a save to postscript file on the linux machine? then in okular use the import postscript as pdf. if the file imports ok, then the problem is in pgs's PDF generation, else i would be suspect of that font file or pgs itself.

For what it is worth, the PDF-outcome of the Windows version (5.0.5.Cool
is correct.
