consumer multifunction devices are notoriously poor in function -- it would not greatly surprise me if PgS is creating a print job it can't deal with. I haven't used PgS on Windows long enough I don't recall if it invokes the system print requester or generates its own print jobs. Things to check:

make 100% sure it is using correct printer driver

if at all possible, have it use a postscript driver

failing that, a PCL driver

If it doesn't even use PCL I'd replace it (unreasonable IMO to expect a non-postscript and non-PCL printer to have any real functionality)

If it is a "windows only printer" I'd replace it (unreasonable IMO to expect a printer that is virtualized on the PC to have any real functionality)

In any case, if you save as PDF you can print from a PDF viewer as other apps can print.

If you print to a postscript file any good PDF viewer can load that for viewing and consequently printing.

Sure, either of the last two add an extra step -- one of the "advantages" of using a "multi" function device is reduced functionality in all of the functions it claims to have. Multifunction devices are poor scanners, copiers and printers. I suppose they operate tolerably well as fax machines.

I can only add that working with PGS and on XP I used a USB-printer (a
Canon inkjet). Did always work!
Now I am using a Samsung laserprinter 3180, also on USB (and Windows 7).
Works!

I did a search for .pcl
Well, I didn't found one, but luckily the answers pointed me in the
right direction.
In (Windows 7!!!!) I found in:
C:\ProgramData\SmartCMS2\Samsung CLX-3180 Series\UI this Samsung
CLX-3180 Series.ecs
(the maps PCL and SPL are empty).
So, maybe you should search for .ecs

If Postscript works on it at all, it should print under Generic
Postscript. The ppd file only defines special properties of a printer.
