and crashes constantly. Not sure what to do now - anyone with similiar
experiences? I've been incommundo for a while so I might have missed some
emails on the list. Tx

I had a lot of trouble with the actual download, but the program seems
fine. The new features such as PDF export and hanging punctuation still
need work.

I made sure to install it on a different partition from 3.4 and also
checked the User-startup to make sure it made sense. Then I can carry on
working with 3.4 until v4 is finalized, by commenting out the new
assigns and restoring the old ones.

But no crashes so far.

You may have a mixture of new and old files.

I've been using my friends cable modem to dl the file from the server
(horrid connects from my house) then using Driveway.com to get them home.
Actually works!

I've got a gazziliion different revs of Pgs on my application's harddrive
ranging from 3.2 to 4 revs. I had to back down to r2 cuz I hadn't made any
backups since then. A fair amount of trouble stemmed from the user prefs
file. I trashcanned it & relaunched & was able to actually do stuff in the
prefs until I saved. Then it locked up. I'll dink more with it...

On another note, my Epson 800 is acting schwanky - getting horizontal
banding with very little black ink. Since I got it used & there are no
servicable Amiga dox in the world, I'm guessing that the black ink is
running low despite the light not being lit. Worse, however, is attempting
to follow the directions on the hood of the printer for changing ink
cartridges might have just ruined the tractor - you're supposed to hold the
clean-button for the desired cartride down for 3 seconds then lift the lid
on the desired well & remove & replace. When I did that, the d@mn thing was
still doing its cleaning dance & smacked the upright lid into the side of
casing & made a hideous buzzing sound (motor VERY unhappy!) Usefull
suggestions from other users would be greatly appreciated. Tx!

As a test, I tried importing a very simple HTML document, which is the
instructions for using a program. There are no pictures or tables
(unlike 99% of HTML docs).

Problems:

The main problem is that everything in <PRE> format is omitted, instead
of being printed as Courier or similar monospaced font. This makes the
document useless.

Also, bold type indicated with the <STRONG> tag comes in as plain.

The Definition List tags <DL>, <DT> and <DD> were ignored.

Suggestions:

There needs to be a preferences setup for the fonts to be used. The
Microsoft free web fonts are easily available to Amiga users. You can
either copy the files from a PC, or get the Amiga archives from

We already have font substitution prefs, so there is nothing to add
here, but a size table for H1 etc is needed.

I believe there is a strategic error in trying to import HTML as a text
format: HTML is a _document format_, like ProPage or Word, and needs to
be treated as such.

A program such as PageStream has a big advantage in that Style Sheets
are already built in and the heavy coding work is done. Essentially, it
is a matter of mapping HTML styles (including the common default style)
to a set of PageStream styles set up as default but editable by the
user. So H1 etc are styles - if the code uses style sheets, these modify
H1 from the default. If not, use Times Bold 24 point or whatever.
