I recently downloaded a PDF file from montereybayaquarium.org which turned out to use Weiss, Caslon and Franklin Gothic fonts, none of which were incorporated in the file.
I've read that for PDF 1.2, the number of fonts assumed to be "resident" in the target system has been increased from 39 to 100. It's possible that Weiss, Caslon and Franklin Gothic are in that list.
But I recently attempted to Save-as-PDF a file using PigNoseType (a knockoff of Peignot) and Shelley-AllegroScript. There was no font download with the file, and the interpreter substituted Courier for both. I can't believe that these fonts are in the magic 100.
So is PageStream PDF going to be limited to documents using fonts from that "standard" list? If so, I think we need a copy of that list. I couldn't find such a list on the Adobe website.
