Hello,

Well I finally had enough and reinstalled 3.3a and now have Postscript
saving working without crashing the computer. I wish that we could get 4
working correctly.

Well a quick question. When I save the file as postscript and take it to the
printers they load it in Corel software. This seems to work ok but I
noticed that the coroners of every box I made is corrupt. It is kind of
like a checkerboard patteren.

If I pull up the same file with GhostScript it looks ok. Is there some
setting in Corel or PageStreem that can change it? Any box even turning
one on around a graphic is effected.

Thanks

I have a PostScript printer and the output from PGS is always perfect.

Why can't the printers just copy the PS file to the RIP? I don't see what
they need Corel software for. What is it doing?

How it looks like? Can u make a snapshot & send me? I never had any problems
with .PS from PageStream. It imported perfectly in CorelDraw.

Sounds like some kind of defect in their Corel software. I have heard
local horror stories about printers and copy shops that are still
running on Level 1 PostScript, and can't handle anything more recent.

Just for the record, there are four different ways to create a "box"
in PageStream. Three work with PostScript, and the fourth can be
made to.

(1) Drawing a box using the rectangle tool.
(2) Creating a a box by selecting /Stroked/ for a text frame, using
Object/Line & Fill.
(3) Using the Borders tool.
(4) Using the ruling characters in an Intellifont font (Unicode 9472
through 9579).

The ruling characters (4) won't work with PostScript, as there are no
corresponding characters in a normal PostScript font. However, if the
box created by the ruling characters is converted to a graphic using
the Convert to Path menu item -- assuming you have TextFX -- it will
reproduce OK in PostScript. If the box so created is to appear within
a text frame, it must first be created outside the text frame,
converted to a path, and then moved into the text frame.

This is also what I think. It prints fine in Studio to my Epson600 and
displays fine in Ghostscript.

I was hoping that someone that knows Corel can tell me how to change or turn
of this bug.

1,2 and 3 are the only ones I'm using.

Probably because they are "stupid" or more correctly duped into believing
that everything has to be done through an application programme.
They most likely wouldn't know you can "copy" or "type" a postscript file to
the output device. You would have to tell them.

I have seen it. Very strange. This shouldn't happen in Corel. What Corel do u
use? I tried V8 and V9 and they both imported everything I created in
PageStream perfectly...

This corner 'effect' looks like you draw several lines, converted to 'curves',
groupped and intersect them (or 'Merge' in PGStream)...

This 'effect' can be made if type several letters in very small distance
(-20% for example) between characters, and press "C" key (convert to curves).

There are several things u can try:

- Export drawing from PGStream as PostScript, but without converting anything
to curves.

- Export drawing from PGStream as PostScript, WITH everything converted
to curves.

Then:

- Import in CorelDraw (8 or 9) as .PS with "Convert To Curves" unchecked.

- Import in CorelDraw (8 or 9) as .PS with "Convert To Curves" checked.

Before I did final work, I'll do several versions, just in case.

I was checking through my several full-colour work I did on Amiga, imported
to CorelDraw and print in printing company. Unfortynatelly, I only had typed
text, several lines and background picture, nothing complicate. And all this
worked. I haven't tried to create for example the box as in your example and
import in Corel, but I'll try it soon & let u know.

Who knows, maybe it won't work? Maybe Corel is buggy too? ;)

How do you export a drawing with everything converted, or what commands do I
use to convert it. I can't seem to find anything in 3.3a to do it. I
don't have TextFX

Sorry I wrote it wrong. I meant, to convert to curve using ConvertToPath (C
shortcut key). For that you don't need TextFx (btw why use TextFx when it is
only for text effects? There is no Text-To-Curve, right?)
