Hi again.

I thought I could get around the "fi" problem by doing a find and
replace. In PgS4.0 r5 the find/replace requester has a neat pair of
arrows at the end that bring up the character set in which I found the
"fi" character. The requester inserted a "\" followed by the correct ^D
code for that character, into it's "find" string, but it would never
actually find the offending code.

This problem can be fixed two ways. The temporary fix is to simply highlight
the problematic text, pull down the text/kerning menu and disable kerning. All
the missing "fi" and "fl" will magically reappear. The second and more
convenient way is to go to the PgS prefs and find type/attributes/kerning to
disable it. This had been a problem with certain fonts with incorrectly set
kerning for some time. Deron added the kerning option to the prefs in just the
recent version of PgS.

Regards

Thanks Jon:

Kerning didn't fix it, but ligature did. Works like a charm.

Well, yes, but surely the PDF format should be able to support
ligatures?

I suppose it's a problem with font encoding.
