Thanks to all who answered my cry for help in installing a new HD to my
AMIGA, not forgetting Deron for turning a blind eye to my off-topic use of
his facility.

The problem turned out to be one of formatting at basic level. Maxtor had
produced the drive primarily for the PC and the Mac. I did notice that the
sector length had been set to 1024 bytes, and corrected it on each
partition. That is except the boot partition which I unfortunately missed.
Although I had no trouble copying the old HD to the new one, and the
programs would run OK. It wouild not boot up from the 1024byte boot sector
of the new HD.

After putting the matter right (512 byte sectors); the whole kaboodle works
fine. Phew!! At 75 years old my brain is not as keen as it used to be.

End of misuse of this list.

Thanks again. I knew I could rely on you all.
