Hmm, I know that programs need memory to 'work' but :-

Using the latest Amiga PGS4 download.

Starting from a reboot to maximise available memory.

Free memory : 94.2 mb

Load BME : memory now 91.4 mb - OK no probs

Load a 3.3 mb jpeg - memory drops to 62.2 mb

Convert the image to CMYK - memory drops to 32.9 mb

Rotate the image 90 degrees - memory drops to 4.0 mb

Should BME be releasing memory after each operation? Because it
doesn't seem to be doing so and that means that in order to
process another image I have to shut down BME and then start it
again which is tedious. Sad

p.s. Since writing this I have done another image and guess what

After the rotation I realised that I had rotated the wrong way,
so I 'undid' it and then rotated it the correct direction and
after that I was left with nearly 30 mb memory available. Weird
or what.

Turn UNDO off of this bothers you, or change it to 1 level of undo. Each of
the operations you list change the _entire_ bitmap, so it requires that the
entire old copy be saved to "undo" back to it. I don't know for sure, but I
think BME will spool these bitmaps to disk if it needs more memory, or even
for go them.

Nah, just close the document, and your UNDOs go away!

Doh, why didn't I think that through properly - I should have
been able to work that out myself!!

Trouble was that it has been all working so well that this was
the first time I had noticed how much memory was involved in the
'undo's'.
