Greetings All...

I've just received a heap of very nice fonts in .ttf format.

Is there any way I can use them in PGSv4.1.4.0 ? I can't find any of
these fonts in yhe multiple fonts drawers in my PGS install.

A person from overseas claims she uses .ttf fonts on a regular basis
in an older version of PGS but does not offer any proof. She did not
set her Amiga up and knows nothing about how to use something like
DOpus to look through various dirs to see what's there.

BTW... why does one need all these different font dirs in PGS ?

And while I'm here, why does the assign for PGS still need v3 as well
as v4 assigned? I installed v4.1.4.0 from scratch and NOT over an
existing earlier version.

TIA.

You will find a good tutorial on using TTF fonts on Amiga here:

http://www.kittycat.co.uk/computing/webfonts/

It is aimed at users of the Voyager web browser, but most of it applies
equally for use with any program. There are links to the install
program.

I have a drawer in Workbench:Fonts called "_Truetype" and the actual TTF
fonts are installed there. The install program makes the necessary index
files for the Fonts: directory.

Once installed, the fonts will work in most Amiga programs. Pagestream
will need to run its own install too (in Preferences).

Copy the fonts to your hard drive somewhere (can be installed for the OS as
well, and that would be a fine place to have them), and then in PageStreams
System Prefs -> Fonts dialog box, you can add the path for those fonts and
PageStream will use them. Not very hard! (It should be documented in the
help system as well. Please read it and tell me if it was clear, you found
it where you expected to, etc!)

Organization! If you want, you can dump all the fonts into a single
directory. Or you can organize them into common/unusual, styles, etc and
add/remove paths as needed. If you have thousands of fonts it can be useful!

Because some of the various utilities still use it. They are executable
compatible with both PageStream3 and 4. Since I can't go back and add a
pagestream4: assign for old users, it was easier to add a pagestream3
assign for new users. Some items have migrated to the generic pagestream:
assign. 4 assign and path add is not to much for a 10+mb installation. You
should see what other Windows programs add the your system registry Smile
