Ok, to get you past the registration screens, try this:

Inside the PageStream folder, there should be a folder called UserPrefs. If
not, create one.

In side that should be a file called "PageStream5.prefs" (or
PageStream4.prefs). It is a text file and the contents should be:

PREFERENCE FILE
USERNAME "Your Name"
USERCOMPANY "Your Company"
USERREGNUM 500000
USERPASSWORD 9digitpwd

(Other items get added as you set prefs.)

I'm passed the registration that was no problem, and I've just managed to get PS5 running for
a couple of minues before it crashed. It's after 1am here, I'm off to bed,
I'll have another play tomorrow ( er, today).

Ok, I've had another quick mess about trying to get the GR on startup, but I
got one on exit, crashlog attached, and after clicking on ignore errors I
got a n con: window pop up with "***Command 'PageStream5' returned with unfreed signals
7F800000!" in it.

Hello PageStream

so this is my bug report for PagStream 4.1.7.6 PPC. My system AmigaOne XE(G4) 256MB-RAM Radeon 7500 Sil680 HD

1) Downloaded the PageStream4 archive and unpacked it in a new folder (PageStream4) on a FFS partition.
2) Had to change PageStream to file type "Tool" and check the "executable" box within the icon-info
3) Made a file PageStream4.prefs and a folder UserPrefs but deleted it to try if reg-window will appear.
4) Started PGS with double click.
5) Black/orange recoverable error message appeared (Font softlogik.font is defektive at glymp #126)
6) waited few secs till it disappeared
7) Registration window appeared in Workbench Screen and filled the reg-fields
window closed and nothing happened.
9) double click on icon again, loading libraries etc. splash-window appeared.
10) tips window appeared with all icons missing.
11) click on
12) All teh Toolboxes and navigation window appeared. again with most icons missing
missing icons in Toolbox: Pointer (object)
Polygon
Pen
Freehand
13) created new document size A4
14) clicked on the Magnify icon and changed viewing size. The Window content became dark orange and the ruler on the left side black.
15) scrolled up and down. there are refresh problems. The Window content gets trashed but refreshes again when moving another window above it
16) clicked on the text icon.
17) the edit-palette box chages its size ....and all the icons are missing.
1 tryed to open prefs window, it takes 9 seconds to open.
"General" the buttons "Help", "Load", "Save As...", "Use", "Cancel" and "Save" are not on where they should be. They are centered on the window and covering other items instead.
I can't select the item "Files" as I was on icon "View". item "Folders" gets selected instead. Same from here: being on item "Folder" and clicking on "files" with mouse "Folders" gets selected again.

that's it for today. my report for PageStream5 ppc will follow.

We don't currently ship with a softlogik.font, so I am guessing you have
this from an older installation. Still a valid problem to be fixed...

Generally speaking, you only need to test the highest version you have
access to. The differences between them are in the PageStream code, and
that is already been fairly well testing on Windows and Linux. Further, any
problem in 4.1.7 PageStream code will be in 5.0 PageStream code as well.
