The trouble is that these windows are so small that the dragbar on the top
is completely covered by the size toggle and close gadgets. On the Amiga,
you can hold down the left ctrl and left Amiga (or on a non amiga keyboard,
left ctrl and left Windows), and then the mouse can drag a window from
anywhere in the window, not just the dragbar. So while holding down the
key combination, you mouse to any point on the window, hold down left mouse
button as usual, and drag. They will still by tiny, but at least they
won't overlap.

I didn't think to check the word count, but I don't think the problem is
merely that the text color and background color are the same. I think this
because the printer's symbols such as paragraph marks and tab marks DO show
up (in red, on my system), and by looking at their positions, there are
clearly no blank letters to the left of them. For example, type the word
TEST followed by tab followed by TEXT followed by carriage return. You
will see the tab mark at the far left side of the text box, and the
paragraph mark immediately to the right of the tab mark. There is clearly
no room for even invisible text to sit between these marks, so the letters
are not being set in place at all.

@pagestreamsupport:

Thanks for the new versions. Downloading them now.

I haven't had a chance to get .9, but I saw something like this on .8.
Check your font settings for valid paths, then use the select-all menu
command and change the fonts from the menu. You should see your text.

Many thanks for the above Stuart. Temporarily lost your email, but
just recovered it now. The horizontal toolbar (5.0.2.9 Amiga) still
cannot be dragged without your suggestion.

I was able to replicate the above -- sort of! I was able to see a
vertical bar after the TAB was entered, and upon entering RETURN, a
'blinking' cursor was visible -- but poorly. No characters
appeared. With "Edit -> Select all" the region corresponding to the
TAB shows in black. That's a FIRST here. Wink

With "Type -> Font -> Choose" the only available font is
Triumvirate-Normal!!! But "Show Font Sample" does not work though
check-marked.

You need to go to the File->System Prefs->Fonts and add the
PageStream/Fonts/BitStream folder to the font paths!

Hi Deron,

Below I'm referring to the behaviour of PageStream 5.0.2.9 PPC.

Did that and the result is spectacular! Smile

"Show Sample Font" now works for Triumphrate.

The example files '5.0 flyer.pgs' and "Welcome to 5.0.pgs" open now
and with TEXT showing. Previously, only the graphic elements
appeared.

Opening templates and so on from "Direct Templates" and "Home &
Office" now show up with text in them. Yesterday they looked
suspiciously empty, but more glorious today. Wink

Furthermore, if I open a 'new' doc with the "new document" icon in
the horizontal toolbar and then place a text box on the page, the
characters appear on entering text. Changing fonts works fine.

In addition, the menu "File -> Insert text...." loads Ascii text,
however, only the first page of text is revealed, and there is no
way to view pages 2, 3, .... but I dare say that is not news.
The box with '+' in it appears, showing that there is text that
cannot fit onto the page.

Can now create a two-column page, i.e., two text boxes on the page
which initially are not connected. "Insert text" into the left from
your examples in the 'Text' directory, then use the "link columns"
icon and the text flows from left column into the right column.
Very good.

However, I still cannot load old 4.1.5.6 documents without things
going chaotic and a warm reboot is soon required. WAIT! I had one
success! An old file opened with the "Default Master Page" showing.
The font Triumphriate had been substituted for the original font,
but could not change anything before PageStream became totally
uncooperative, but no GR.

Another note that I've had before but have not reported is
that the 'Close' gadget (upper left) for a document is erratic.
Sometimes it will close a doc and sometimes it will not. I end up
with too many docs displayed that won't go away and eventually have
to warm reboot to rid them. Oh! Oh! ERROR. You can get rid of them
if you tell PageStream5 to QUIT, and then fire it up again. On the
other hand, sometimes the 'File' menu vanishes and then a warm
reboot is necessary.

I've had up to 5 docs open at a time, but four of them would not
close! Pretty silly thing to do, but they should close.

Getting there! Smile

That is expected behavior. See
http://www.grasshopperllc.com/help/PGSuser/usingtext.html#anchor35067 or the
same section in the included documentation. There is a note about setting
automatic text frames if that is desired.
