seems like they have changed the format of the username. They now want 7
characters. Amiga usernames were only 6 long until today. If the change
was intentional they should have let customers know.

We just went live with a new system this morning. You now create an account
with your own username and password that you pick! When you enter yoru
personal details (name and email address) and you use the same email
address as before your account will have your registration info added
automatically to your online account. Once we finish our live testing we
will announce to everyone and include instructions. However, you are
welcome to jump on now and figure it out on your own (it isn't difficult!)

Sorry I haven't said anything here yet, but personally I'm busy programming Smile

I've just registered. It just fine tells me that I have purchased the
following products:

PageStream Pro Windows-i86 5.0
PageStream Amiga-OS3-68k 4.1

But when clicking on the 'Download' link, only Windows and Linus demos
and beta demos are listed.

I registered and activated the account fine. It shows the products and all,
but when I went to update the personal information (at first it was pretty
empty ;^) it prompted me to activate again -- with the same key. I hadn't
changed the email, just put information in non-mandatory fields. Was the
reactivation (including emailing a duplicate key) intentional?

Are you using a windows or linux username. The different
platforms have different sized usernames. For amiga software
the username is 6 characters long.

G'day PageStream Support,

On 6/02/2006, on the subject of "[PageStreamAmigaBeta] Re: Pagestream

I have registered also, but I cannot register with my old e-mail address
(when I previously registered my SL products) as an account activation
code is sent to the nominated e-mail address. So I had to use my current
address, which meant none of my previous registrations were recognized,
of course.

I'm not sure what the solution would be in this case, however I was able
to successfully add my registrations manually, with the exception of
Typesmith.

I guess being in the testing phase there are bound to be a few teething
problems still :^). When I click on the Downloads link I am not
presented with my registered programs to download, just the Linux and
Windows demos. Also, when I initially registered I did not add my
address, but I did so via the Update button on the Profiles page. When I
submitted the changes I was told an account activation code will be
(again) sent to my e-mail address, and it was the same as the original I
had received a few minutes earlier.

I wonder if that is a side effect of not being able to use the original email
address and adding the products manually? I'll bet they have to be manually
approved before you get the links. I finally got around to clicking and sure
enough I have a whole slew of download links (Amiga, Windows, Linux with
multiple download links each).

However, the good news ends there. I downloaded and diff'd one to see if it
was good and it wasn't. Curious, I tried to get a listing of the archive and
got a message that it was invalid. Curiouser, I loaded it into a hexeditor.
Oops... there's something wrong with this file: it starts as an HTML file and
segues into a binary.

I hope login/pass will be included in these intructions because I don't remember
the ones I used when I have purchased PageStream. I only keep in mind the
registering number and password I used to need to access the old website...

To reiterate, you create you're own username and password. If you still have
and use the email account which is registered with SoftLogik/Grasshopper then
your registrations will be added to that automatically. If not, you can add
them, but they must be approved by someone at Grasshopper as verifying that
those are really yours.

If the database picked up your registrations from your email then the
downloads should be available. If not, they have to be approved.

Also, it will log you out if you are idle too long (I'm not sure how long that
is), but there is no message when that happens. If you aren't logged in it
will still show you the demo downloads.

Update, this has been fixed. I just downloaded two files. One I already have
and diff'd it and it came up identical, the other was a PgS Amiga version
that I only inspected to see if it was valid.

I didn't add the manually, so the downloads should have been available.
But they were not. However, they are available now. Don't know why, but
it is nice.

Hi, I'm at the local library uploading some files, so while I'm waiting
I've fixed a few kinks in the website, and I'll try and answer a few
questions.

First, we don't have TypeSmith on our downloads page, so I don't see much
need to register it with the system. Same for Art Expression, etc! We
still know you have it!

Should be fixed now. In the move to the live system, I switched a line.

No, if you enter the registration and product password, it is added
automatically. That is all the system needed to download before! However,
unlike before you can not use it more than once. If two people try and
enter the same registration numbers you will get caught now!

This should be fixed now. I just tested here and the zip seemed to open
fine. Also, for folks with MacOSX, Amiga OS4, and MorphOS, you should also
have access to older Mac or Amiga classic downloads as appropriate.

Yup, it seems to be working correctly now.

The picture on the home page showing the Formula editor is missing.

Actually, it was just a bug in the download page. When the new site was
uploaded once of the absolute paths didn't get updated.

Good point. The easiest way to know this is to look at the top bar. If it
says :"welcome tim doty" or whatever, you are signed in. If is says
"register", then you are not!

We have considered making everyone create an account and sign in before
they can download, even for a demo version. Just won't need to be a
registered customer to download a demo.

Hi!

I think you are missing the point. You can register with a username _you_
choose (in fact, I would recommend your name as your username), and you can
pick _your_ password. Then you no longer need to remember your registration
numbers and product passwords! (But always make sure you have that
information written down in a secure place!!!)

We wrote up a simple help that is now at the bottom of the sign in,
profile, and downloads page. Also, for those of you who still managed to
enter your registration number as your username and would like to change
it, the new profile page should let you change your username. In the
(distant?) future we will allow comments to be posted on the online help,
plus other goodies and you will want to be identified by something akin to
a real name!

Well, it hasn't been for sale on our site for a long time! I think sales
will sell and send as requested, but unless there is more demand I don't
see much point in putting it on the web site.

I thought the whole idea of advertising a product on a web site was to
increase demand ?

That appears to be the case, as 24 hours later the downloads section now
displays my registered products, not just the demos.

I guess what is needed is a message indicating approval is required when
you manually add your products.

Possibly. No worries, the old downloads etc were not secured either, and
your ordering is still done securely where credit card/financial
information is in play. We don't store anything beyond what is shown on
your profile page, and while your street address etc is still considering
"personal" information, the truth is that kind of data is available (at
least in the USA) in an public way to anyone who cares to go looking for it.

The only other thing at risk is the downloading of PageStream, and I
learned along time ago that trying to defeat pirates is an endless task. I
do just enough to remind honest folks that this is not public domain work.
Dishonest folks will always be that way.

In fact, the new site will go a long way towards protecting PageStream as
many more things are tracked than before.

I hope everyone has managed to get in and get access without much troubles.

That's all very well for people like you with long names.

Lucky you, that 'Don Cox' is exactly seven characters ...
