Each time I start PgS 4.1.8.1, a GR always appears before any windows are
opened. There's no difference if a prefs file is present or not, and I
am using a "virgin" OS4 update partition for this.

When I run SnoopDOS it appears PgS is trying to load a
"littlecms.library", but after a search at Aminet this seems to be a part
of some package available only for MorphOS.

Has there been a mistake somewhere? I wonder if this explains the GRs?

Littlecms is a free colour management engine, seehttp://www.littlecms.com/.

PgS uses it and there is a MOS port of the library. I don't know if there's
an OS4 port of it yet, or if these features are disabled in the OS4 port at
the moment. In any case I doubt it's related to the crashes.

No mistake, and it is not a problem. It simply tries to load it. If it is
not available, it doesn't use it.

Where you able to load previous versions?

It would only get to this part if one of the two .rsc files are missing,
either PageStream4.rsc, or SoftLogikApp.rsc. Very odd. Of course, it should
just be putting up an alert requester, not crashing

Just to refresh: Starting PgS 4.1.8.1 on a clean OS4 Update4 install, GR.

I ran SnoopDOS and it seems PgS4 is in fact trying to load
PageStream5.rsr(!). I also had to name my prefs file as
PageStream5.prefs. There seems to be a mixup somewhere.

I now get a little further ie. the vert. toolbar to the left appears, but
the system is sluggish. Looking at the serial port, the GR is dumping
info in an endless loop, but there is no GR GUI appearing.

On a similar note, the releasenotes for PgS 4.1.8.1a are that for 5.0.3.2.

I've just noticed an "a" version has been uploaded since, will try that.

I have just tried 4.1.8.1a Pro, and unfortunately the symptoms are still
the same as my previous post ie. GR serial dump looped but no GR GUI. I
did not need to rename my .rsc and .prefs files to *5.*, so that was
fixed at least :^).
