I have been upgrading beta versions by copying over the top of the previous
version. I just tried creating a new directory and extracting/running from
there and both of these are fixed, I assume it was a prefs file or some
such that was causing the problem as I selected over-write when upgrading
(or rather extracting from the archive).

Also a tip for people until we get the updated beta version with the tab
issue fixed:

use the increase indent button in the top horizontal toolbar instead of the
Tab button.
