hi.

i must say, this version is working *very* good this time. i can load
most (if not all) of my old documents and even resave them. the font
substitution finally does no longer crash (most of the time Wink
knocking on wood).

the main problems i found:

- refreshing the window does still not work when moving the page
around (via mouse or scrollbars) - it does almost work well when
resizing the window - goes black sometimes but this is very seldom

- placing pictures (i know that jpeg and smth else does not work in general) does *not* work, when you've set pagestream to NOT to "place graphic in center".
placing it in center seems to work - if this is disabled pagestream freezes as soon as you place the graphic with the mouse. the graphic shows but then it locks.

- several gui quirks (label backgrounds, auto-resizing windows (missing groups/spaces?), non woking toolbox-multi-buttons...

all in all this is (for me) the first "working" version.

thanks a lot deron!

i see that some people have problems. i just did a test on a "clean" system.
i have a partition here which only contains the os4 pre4 installation. nothing else.
i boot from this partition, dearchive the pagestream 5ppc archive to ram and start it from there. i found no problem. it starts up fine, i can enter my registration data and there it goes.
have people tried this? or just booting from the os4 cd?

byebye...

G'day Michael Merkel,

On 22/05/2006, on the subject of "[PageStreamAmigaBeta] pgs 5.0.3.2 os4",
you spoke thus:

This is really odd. I'm also booting from a clean Update4 partition and
PgS does not start here. The symptoms are similar for my main beta
partition too.

Do you have an XE? If so, does it have the USB/DMA mods? Have you
changed any UBoot vars from their default? Could you please post the
output of nvgetvar and I'll compare them to mine.

It would be nice to say that the tiny frogs thought long and hard about
the new flower, about life in the old flower, about the need to explore,
about the possibility that the world was bigger than a pool with petals
around the edge.

In fact, what they thought was: "._._.mipmip._._.mipmip._._.mipmip".

I don't know about Michael's A1, but I have an XE with the original
800 MHz G$ and no MOBO mods (yet). But I am running DMA with a PATA
Sil card.

I've done all three.("Normal OS partition boot, "clean OS4 update 4 HD
partition boot, and CD boot, all with and without JIT) I need to put
the texteditor classes in the mui on my "clean" OS4 install on a
separate partition to see if it makes a difference. But otherwise, I
followed the same procedure you did, and continue to get the same
lockiups I've had all along.
