Ever since upgrading OS4 with the newest update, I have been unable to do anything with my PageStream5Pro installation (it likes to freeze my system completely). Now even though I can manage to get into the program by renaming the "SoftLogik" drawer, I have to change the name back before I can do anything like loading a document or even importing a graphic into a new document; and then when I try to load an old document or a import a graphic, the GR appears, but when I try to get information about the crash, everything freezes, and I need to do a hard reset to get back up and running.

Since I haven't seen anyone else mentioning anything like this, I might be the only one to have this problem. Do you guys know a trick that you haven't told me yet? Wink

Thanks for any help that you can provide.

Hello revbloedel

I have just wanted to ask about the same problem.
My system is react to PGS 5.0.3.3 just as you described.

I think the only trick would be an updated version from
Deron.

You are happy user, i think. For Morphos, I have not got any usable
version Pagestream 5 Sad It is too unstable to use it for anything more
then making bug report (generate log from logtool). Nothing else Sad

Hello Philippe

If you mentioned the prefs/compatibility blacklist then it
hardly the solution because PS5 is PPC native code with all
sub-libraries.

The 68k PGS4 is working just like before the update.

How does it work for you?

Here too. It is not usable on OS4.

Ok for the blacklist, I forgot it was native :-/

So at last we are all sailing with the same boat.
Sadly it makes no happy that I know that I could be happy
until this time. Smile

Could you tell me about PGS4 68k stability on MOS? Sometimes
it has problem on OS4 with clipboard and some of the ttf
fonts.

PageStream4 runs great with the latest update to AmigaOS 4. I have
purchased version 5 but find it not sufficiently developed to use. I
realize this doesn't help you with your issue but I need PageStream for
my work and thus use version 4. I would hope that the development of
version 5 continues.

I find Deron amazing, BTW. That he can do any development under the
conditions in which he has existed, is simply awesome. I hope his life
has settled more.

i don't have these problems with pgs5pro(os4) at all. i start it and it
runs...

sorry - no real idea.
but one possible problem could be a broken mui installation? try to
re-install mui from the os4 disks without any additional mui classes. this
may be a start.

You are certainly right there doctor. Deron's work is
much appreciated.

Just to clarify things a bit, I am talking about the
native PPC version of PageStream5Pro for OS4. (My old
68k PageStream4 installation still works fine.)

Paul,

Like Michael, PgS5 PPC is mmore or less working on my A1, and has been
with the last two updates now. I can't print from PgS 5, so I have to
save what I create there and open it in PgS 4 to print it. The screen
refresh is, errr, "interesting." But otherwise, it runs now for me.

I wish I could write a tutorial for it. But it went from never opening
before "final update" to just "working" when I installed OS4 final
update.

I don't have any either. I had problems with version 4 pro : greams with some "time and date"... but they seem to be gone...

Only problem with PPC (besides the refresh thing) is that when I trace a bitmap with the fx button, then I am not able to import it again...

I'll keep you updated

Same on Amithlon. It starts loading but doesn't get far enough to do any
kind of work.

Fortunately PGS 4 does most of what I need.

Hi!

My Amigas are still in boxes, so I have _not_ been able to download and
install the last update. I can't think of anything that I remember
reading that would effect PageStream, but I would check from a CLI to
see if any errors are reported. maybe check TextEditor mui class?

I am hopeful that the Amigas will come out soon. I thought that we would
be done with drywall by now, but things happen (and often around here!)
I am just glad to have Internet and my laptops!!

Thanks for the kind words Dr. Keller!

Get those AmigaOnes going! We miss your work.

We are also drywalling and have been for a couple of years. Hope
yours going faster than ours has though we re now able to focus more on
it. Seems never ending.

btw...

the july udate has python support build it. so it should now be easy to add
python support (as host) to pagestream.

Thanks,
I missed that in the os4beta messages. 99% of it is irrelevant to me so
I tend to gloss over it when I am behind in email. And when am I ever
_not_ behind Smile

Isn't the plan for AOS4 to provide a scripting system that can use
ARexx, Python, Ruby or whatever, without the coders of individual
programs having to change their "ARexx" ports?

I know it is already possible to use Python scripts to address ARexx
ports on AOS 3 software.

I notice in pagestream5pro for os4 that there are are a number of python scripts in the script and wip drawers. THey don't seem to work though - even with python running. So is there a way to get them working?

Ah!
So they're there for future use. Will the next update of 5pro for os4 have python support since OS4 now has python support?
