Hello,

Some time ago, when I got my HP 2605dn printer, I experimented with printing
a frequently needed envelope.

I came close with PageStream4, but decided it was easier to do in OpenOffice
after all, and have printed a few more from the Linux side whenever I ran
out.

Unfortunately I can't count on getting USB with Linux, so it was back to
PageStream4 today, and I made the minor reformatting necessary and
tried to print.

My note on my original attempt some months back says "This was PS4,
custom size 3.7" x 6.5" Portrait." So I tried printing an envelope from
my existing file, as portrait, but it printed part of the address across the
envelope, top to bottom. So I tried landscape printing, and got exactly
the same result! I tried switching things around in PrinterPS, but it made
no difference. I can't remember how I got it to work way back when.

Is this something about PageStream4 that I don't understand?

Bart

I has been years since I printed envelopes with PageStream. But as far
as I remember you have to make sure that the printer's paper size match
the paper size you use with PGS.

Hi Bart Mathias,

On 25/02/2008, on the subject of "[PageStreamAmigaBeta] printing

Just a follow-up from your original post to the AmigaOS4 list, in case you
may not have realized, this is the ML for the beta versions of PgS. The
main support list can be reached at:

Good Luck! :^)

Rumour is information distilled so finely that it can filter through
anything. It does not need doors and windows -- sometimes it does not
need people. It can exist free and wild, running from ear to ear without
ever touching lips.

I absentmindedly forgot that we should use the shell to start PgS 5 in OS4
upgrades and clicked on the icon. Perhaps it is because that opens an
"Execute a file" requester, but I was
astonished when, just as soon as I realized my error, up came PageStream!

On the whole it continues to work quite well on my SAM460 (but I can't open
previous documents with it on my A1, where it is only useful for printing
photos, etc.). One strange negative today: a font change attempt crashed my
machine. On reboot, there was no more "Open recent document" option!

Also, the tool bar/box things still don't work (or I don't know how to work
them). The draw-triangle icon gets me only pentagons, etc. But I could draw
triangles if I ever needed to with the line-drawer, so no big deal.

Oh, the control-D thing, e.g. crtrl-D363 to get a "u" with a macron, doesn't
work either
