Hi all,

on my Sam440ep with Aos4.1, I always geht the following error after closing

1) both Aos4.1 versions: Pagestream5.0.3.3(pro) / Pagestream4.1.8.1(pro)

***Befehl 'PageStream5Pro' endete mit nicht freigegebenen Signalen 7F000000!

(translation: ***Command 'PageStream5Pro' finished with a non-freed signal
7F000000!)

2) It's not possible to any PgS-Documens properly, e.g. the two included
documents: "5.0 Flyer.pgs" or "Welcome to 5.0.pgs".

Most of the text is not displayed. It seems that the replacement of
non-existing fonts with other fonts does not work.

I installed the fonts in PageStreamFonts-v0.2-2006-02-26.lha to test this.
With PgS4 (68k) it works without problems With PgS4 (PPC) or PgS5 (PPC) i
could not load a single documtent.

Is this an already known issue?

thanks!
Tom.

did you add the fonts(drawers) to the pagestream fonts setting? it it
sometimes picky with it... not that only truetype fonts really work fine
for now.

Hello Tom,

I'm not using OS 4.1 but .....

I have 5.0.3.3 and do not recall receiving the equivalent message in English. As
to 4.1.8.1(pro), I did not know there was such a version. There is a version
4.1.8.3 and I've played with that, but it is no better than 5.0.3.3.

p> 2) It's not possible to any PgS-Documens properly, e.g. the two included

To have the text displayed using 5.0.3.3, you have to have some TrueType fonts
installed and you have to tell PageStream5 which fonts you want to substitute
for the ones it lists. I can only say that here, the substitution/replacement
of fonts works here. However, still the "5.0 Flyer.pgs" and "Welcome to
5.0.pgs" guys display badly and do not respond well when one tries to "fix them
up."

If you want a stable version, I can only suggest 4.1.5.6 but 5.0.3.3 can do
things that 4.1.5.6 cannot. For example, 5.0.3.3 will embed the proper
duplexing commands into a file if you use the PostScript option when printing.
That is useful here.

Usually, I am able to open documents created by 4.1.5.6 with 5.0.3.3 but the
font translation process can be annoying. Some of the corresponding TrueType
fonts are missing many glyphs that are present in the 'old' fonts that I have
used with version 4.1.5.6 for years; e.g., «Times-Normal» versus «Times Normal».
This can result in many missing glyphs in the 5.0.3.3 document, and that can be
immensely annoying. 5.0.3.3 is supposed to be able to load PDF files, but I
have not figured that one out yet! Wink

When completed, I'm betting that 5.0.3.3 will be a real gem, but ..... we are
still waiting.

I get this Error message ALWAYS after quitting PgS4.1.8.3 (PPC) or PgS5.0.3.3
(PPC) for AOS4. (These are the latest versions available at pagtream.org)

I tried it just again and ONLY included true type fonts with PgS5. Of course,
I choosed a font for each other I wanted to replace. After loading "5.0
Flyer.pgs", I only can see the heading "Pagestream 5.0" and the included
pictures. No other text.

I will open another thread soon, which describes why PgS5 is completely
unusable for me. But first, I will study the documentation. Maybe, there are
such many changes compared to PgS4 that I simple don't know how to use PgS5
Smile

Tom

Yes, it is my understanding that they are the latest PPC versions for the
AmigaOne. however, I cannot advise about you "quitting" messages since I never
see them.

Well .... the following will probably not help, but .....

On opening "5.0 Flyer.pgs" PageStream5 asks which font should replace

Bitstream Vera Serif Roman

and I tell it to use

Bitstream Vera Serif Normal Roman

and up comes the Flyer, looking good. Text is fine but in the past I know that
I've modified the original fonts for that document and did a lot of fiddling
around to get it to look decent. Have not bothered to see where it uses
«Bitstream Vera Serif Normal Roman».

As to the fonts families that are entered into "Installed Font Folders" -- get
there with «File -> System Preferences -> Fonts» -- they are

Sys:Fonts/_TrueType

and the following subdirectories of «WorkRazzageStream5/TTFonts»

BitstreamVera
DejaVu
Intellifonts
SolftLogikFonts
StandardFonts

All work here and they come from that font package that you mentioned in a
previous message.

Well ..... as stated above, here the text is fine and most of the text uses the
Triumvirate Normal font and the fancy header line uses Times Bold. I don't
think those fonts were in the original, but not sure.

Click the text cursor in a text frame and choose «Edit -> Select All». Then
select some font with
Edit -> Font -> Choose...
and see if the text magically jumps into view. Wink

If you insist on using 5.0.3.3 then be strong, since your patience will surely
be tested. Only quite recently has it been of any use here and that use is much
restricted. For example, I would NOT attempt to modify, in a substantial way, a
major existing document. I've tried that and it was a nightmare. For example, I
wanted to print a long document -- originally created by PageStream 4.1.5.6 --
so that I could print it in duplex format to my fancy colour laser printer. Big
mistake!

Oh, by the way. Recently, I stated that I could not get the toolbox to stay as a
horizontal strip. Tonight when I opened PageStream5, there it was in a
horizontal configuration. Lousy location, partially hidden behind the toolbar,
but it was easily dragged out of there with the mouse.
