Greetings All,

I'm trying to create scipts with version 5.0.3.3 and having a some problems.

On activating the menu item

Windows -> Show Script Palette

the palette which is appears is 'misformed' and almost unmanageable, meaning:

It can be extended (enlarged) vertically but not horizontally. Consequently one cannot access the "usual" NEW, EDIT, REMOVE, LOAD, APPEND, SAVE, SAVE AS, and EXPORT options.

To Create a 'new' script:
========================
Above the Script palette are four vertical bars. If one clicks on the rightmost, then an «Edit Script» window opens and you can create a script pretty much as usual. If you checkmark the «Display in Menu» box, then the script will appear in «Scripts» menu and can subsequently be applied.

To Edit an 'existing' script:
============================
Hold down the shift key, then mouse to the «Scripts» menu. When the menu opens, highlight the script to be edited, then release the mouse. The same «Edit Script» window opens and you can change the details. Hold the Shift key until the «Edit Script» window opens. Maybe this is a standard way of doing things, but it was new to me.

To Delete an 'existing' script:
==============================
Don't know how to do this since I cannot find th REMOVE option! If you exist PageStream without saving the current scripts, then of course you will loose any 'new' scripts that have been created. That's fortunate because I did not want to save my 'practice' scripts.

Naming Scripts:
==============
Unfortunately I wanted to use names like

$\in $\sim ...

for some scripts, but since PageStream uses «\\» to search for «\» I had some troubles. For example:

Name entered in Name appearing in
«Edit Script» «Scripts»
window menu drop down list
$\in $in
$\\in $\\in

I thought that strange!

To SAVE a collection of Scripts:
================================
Don't know how to do that either because first one wants to delete 'unwanted' scripts before doing the SAVE, but even if I wanted to save the whole collection, I don't see how to access a "Save scripts" mechanism!

A LOAD option for Styles:
=========================
One of the neat things about the Scripts palette in Pagestream4 is that it has a LOAD option; i.e., if one chooses the LOAD option, then all active scripts are thrown out and you can specify a new collection to replace the entirety of the "current" scripts. That has proven to be a VERY useful option.

However, the Styles palette does NOT have a corresponding LOAD option. For me a LOAD option for styles would have been used many times. Since this idea has been programmed for scripts, I hope it would be easy to apply to styles.

Also ... getting greedy at this point ... If I currently have 20 styles active and want to REMOVE ten of them, that must be done one-at-a-time ..... slooow. It would be great if one could highlight more than one script and then apply the REMOVE action.

Yes, replying to MY original message. I made a slip (at least one!) as noted below:

the last line should have been:

Actually this is a feature of the most recent releases. I know, salt in
the wounds right now.
