Greetings All,

I've not done much with anchored objects in the past, but I've been working on a document where anchoring is almost crucial, and I envision using it in other contexts. But I've run into a difficulty.

By the way---working with PageStream 4.1.5.6 on an AmigaOne.

Working with single column in effect. The page is full of text but at a certain point a blank line is created. Another text frame, which I'll call the "Anchor frame" is created. The idea is to anchor it to a blank line on the frame for the current page. The Anchor frame is set so that text may flow above it and below it, but not around it. Also, the outline of the Anchor frame is stroked, so that the outline of the Anchor frame will be visible.

The following Ascii diagram may be a mess---looks good here:

------------------------------------------------------|
This is the main text frame and bla bla ....bla |
ad i ;d[i ';dif 'eiadkdin;4 [akdk'ladom d' |

blank line above is supposed to be the anchor point |
This is the main text frame and bla bla ....bla |
ad i ;d[i ';dif 'eiadkdin;4 [akdk'ladom d' |
------------------------------------------------------|

Let's say the Anchor frame is about five lines high, then if I anchor it to the blank line above, it overlaps the text below; i.e., the "text wrap" attribute does not work. Therefore I create sufficient blank space below the anchor line so that the Anchor frame will fit in without overlapping the following text. Finally, I re-anchor the Anchor frame to the blank line shown above.

However, in each case the Anchor frame is represented as if it were an EPS object; i.e., as a rectangular box with the diagonals showing. Since the Anchor frame is just another text frame, I thought I would be able to "see it." On printout the content of the diagonally crossed boxes is correct; i.e., the Anchor frame appears only on printout.

Is this the way it is supposed to work?

In reading the 'old' Release 3 manual, I thought that text wrap would have worked, and the examples given suggest that the anchored object would appear on the page!!!

I realize that once a frame is anchored, there is little one can do with it except delete it. But if there is an error in the Anchor frame, then that may not be noticed until printout.

Also, if there is an error in the Anchor frame or one wants to make a change within it, then one can only delete the Anchor frame and then recreate it. One could overcome this (partially) by keeping copies of each anchored frame---I think one can do that---but that does not seem very convenient and at the moment I don't know how to do that either.
