Its been quite some time since the last beta and I know to be patient, but I'm
curious if this looks like it will be a long time before the next beta, or if
it is close.

Thanks,

Tim,
It would certainly be nice to know how things are going. As we all realize,
it's difficult to answer mails, post news and work on a program all at
once,
but it seems like an occasional note wouldn't hurt. ;o)

Even more now than ever, if PageStream is to have a chance in Linux it
would be good to see a working program and get news to pass around
to potential buyers/users in the different mail lists and Linux sites. As
Scribus nears completion of it's 1.0 release, PageStream could find itself
running second in a not so close race to be the top DTP program in Linux.

You been reading my mind? Stop it! I am sitting here catching up on my
Email while a new Linux beta uploads. I guess here is as good as any a
place to talk about the coming upload (it is about 6m up on a 26.6k line).

It is a pretty big upload (about 28m) because it includes full symbols.
Hopefully this will help folks in giving me more details on any crashes or
other problems.

I have a short list of known bugs, a handful of unfinished items, and will
put together a readme for it soon. The big stuff:

Some requesters are not redone for new rsrc, and some requesters are redone
but screwed up. Until I finish the redoing remaining requesters hold on to
the specific comments.

To do/known bugs
----------------
Clipboard
External scripting (Python?)
Compile Engines (language, textfx, borders) & Effects
Some filters need work to compile (JPG)
Printing (will be output PostScript to CUPS/Ghostscript. Most done, but
working on downloadable fonts issue which will be used in other platforms
as well).
Line stroke (just shows single pixel line now).
Stroked only objects hard to select.
Keyboard shortcuts not working (including return for new paragraph when
typing).
Text does not update as you type.
Menu items Open Recent & Scripts not showing.
Drawing areas in requesters getting erased at times.

Actually, I could easily post news, but each day I think that today is the
day I will get the new display library rewritten and I just keep waiting
for big news Smile

Finally, the display library is rewritten (not finished, but rewritten at
least) and working.
