I hate to ask a dumb question, but where does one find <liblinc.so.1>?
Google has been no help. Gimp2.2 works on my SuSE 9.2 but I don't see
liblinc.so.1 or liblinc when I search my sys.

just usehttp://rpm.pbone.net to search for missing libs.
you need this package:
ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.0/suse/i586/linc-1.0.3-77.i586.rpm

liblinc should be included with SuSE 9.2 (it definitely was with 9.1 and 9.3)
although it may not be installed. Fire up YaST, go to the software section
and select Install and Remove Software. In the search bar type liblinc and
it'll pull up the package, select it and install. You will need to have the
install media for this or set the installation source to SuSE's ftp server
(slower, but handy in cases where the media isn't available but networking
is).

? I don't have a 9.2 install to check at the moment, but going to ftp.suse.com
I find /pub/suse/i386/9.2/suse/linc-1.0.3-180.1.i586.rpm

In 9.3 the file is linc-1.0.3-181.i586.rpm and the information says it
provides liblinc.so.1

What I did was to copy the install DVD to my file server and change the source
of installation to it. That way if a package is not installed it fetches it
from there. Barring that or an FTP install, etc., you need to have the
installation media for it to copy the package from.

/pub/suse/i386/9.2/suse/i586/linc-1.0.3-180.1.i586.rpm

I forgot I was dir'ing the i586 directory...

To make PageStream5 run under Linspire (version 5.0) it's necessary to
download (via CNR) the package liblinc1 and adjust the path to the
Pagestream5 folder (which I installed under /usr/local) in the script "Run
Pagestream5". Linspire it's a Debian Linux with KDE environment.

Regards

Hi Luca
I am also trying to get Pagestream running under Linspire 5.0.59
I will install liblinc1 and see what happens
ken
p.s. you mention "adjusting' the path. why?

To make Pagestream 5.0.2.4 run under Linspire, I installed it (uncompressed)
under /usr/local/PageStrea5.0.2.4Pro_beta (that's my folder for Pagestream
executable and data files). I then installed the package liblinc1 via CNR.
Then, as explained in the ReadMe.Linux.txt file, edit your .bashrc file
(shell startup script, as root) and adjust the environment variable
LD_LIBRARY_PATH so that it points to the location where your SoftLogik/lib
folder is (in my case /usr/local/PageStream5.0.2.4Pro_beta/SoftLogik/lib).
This would only be ncecessary if Pagestream is installed in a location other
than /opt/PageStream4 or /usr/local/... and you want to start PageStream
through the shell. Once you have done that, open a console and "cd" to your
PageStream folder and try starting PageStream via command line
(./PageStream5Pro). PageStream might give you error messages for shared
libraries that it cannot access. I also found that under SoftLogik/lib folder
there are four files (namely libSoftLogikApp.so.1, libSoftLogikDisp.so.1,
libSoftLogikOS.so.1 and libSoftLogikRsrc.so.1) that are "links" to similarly
named files located in /home/deron folder/PageStream/SoftLogik/lib (in the
case of file libSoftLogikApp.so.1 it's a link
to /home/deron/PageStream/SoftLogik/lib/SoftLogikApp.so.1.0.0 which, of
course, doesn't exist on my installation, Pagestream is installed
in /usr/local and not under /home/deron). I guess this is due to the original
pathes for those files in the tar archive. So, you have to delete all those
"link" files and create new "link" files (same names as the originals)
pointing to their respective files under the very same location
(SoftLogik/lib and not /home/deron/...) with the shell command link. Once you
have done that, Pagestream should run without problems. If not, make sure you
have issued the "ldconfig -v" command as stated in the Readme.Linux.txt file.
If you want to run Pagestream via the "Run Pagestream5Pro" script provided,
you have to edit it and adjust the PGSPATH environment variable so that it
points to your Pagestream folder and the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable
so that it points to your SoftLogik/lib folder.
