After some more testing I find the the issue seems to be KDE related.
If I log in using another window manager like Window Maker, KWM...
PageStream runs fine. Any idea what in KDE could cause a problem?

Thanks

Joel

In the past I've had problems w/ Pagestream in kde if I used any
theme elements (win decoration and style) that caused kde to look
anything like a mac.

qinx window dec and plastik style seem to work as well w/ Pagestream
as anything else I've tried.

I think the various gtk-qt engines and similar (gtk-clearlooks,
etc) may also have caused problems, I've removed them from my
system.

One last thing, in gnome control center I've currently set my theme
to Xfce-kde2 (rather than the gtk-engines -see above-), this has
made a diference in the past, the gnome industrial theme also seems
to work well. These settings (in the past) affected Pagestream even
when using kde as the desktop.

-rant-
Its kind of disappointing that Pagestream is so tempramental in
reguards to personal theme settings, if you forget this and change
settings the result is often a failure of pagestream to start,
causing distraction from the project at hand. Maybe things are
better with the 5.x series
-end rant-

Thanks!, removing the gtk-qt-engine package seems to have fixed the
problem. I can now run PageStream under KDE.

Tim & Joel, is this something you had to add to begin with? I am running
SuSe 9.3 KDE, and never have seen these problems.

So I just got home and removed the gtk-qt-engine from my Opteron
system. It is now also working fine, the startup QPainter messages are
gone as well. Now I'll have to see if removing those has any bad side
effect.

Now I can change No PageStream to has PageStream.

Deron, on my at work system, I didn't do anything other than a default
SuSE install, so I'm not sure where the gtk-qt-engine would have come
from. My home Opteron system however, has all the GTK and Qt
development stuff loaded.

Hello PageStream

For what it is worth, I am not experiencing the problem either with
PS5.0.2.10 running on 64bit SUSE10.0 with the KDE desktop. BUT I am using
the stock SUSE desktop theme, so my expereience may not count.
