Could you be more specific about wouldn't format the page correctly?

If you tell it not to put a file extension on, and you save it without typing .pdf, then that is exactly what you will get, a file without .pdf. However, the contents of the file are the same regardless. If a browser is confused because the file doesn't have .pdf on it, then you need to put .pdf on the file name.
