Congratulations for taking it this far! However, I don't think
you're out of the woods yet. Here is the result of my first hour of
trying to use PGS 4. You probably already know some of these
problems.

PageStream 4.0.7 for Windows.
Tested with AMD K5 166 MHz running Windows 95 OSR2.

1. After cancelling a requester, the PageStream window does not
become active but another application's window does.
For example: File/Preferences ... Cancel

2. File/Export Graphics
File/Save As
Requestor does not add file extension
File type selection widget is empty

3. File/Export Graphic ... Adobe Illustrator
Graphic is incomplete (clipped)

4. Zoom tool
When dragging the zoom tool, rectangle is centered on first point.
This is inconsistent with the way the rectangle tool works and
inconsistent with the zoom tool in other Windows applications.
Moreover, multiple "shadow" images are visible while dragging.

4. Toolbox
When selecting a tool, the cursor does not change until I click in a
View window.

5. Shell window is visible and contains occasional messages

6. Program and projects have no icons.

7. No hints (bubble help)

8. No right click access to common commands.

9. About should be in Help menu (which does not exist yet).

Until I nail the no-print problem on some printers, you are correct!

Already found and fixed. What do people think about PageStream forcing the
file to contain the proper .3 extension? I also added the ability for
modules to supply more than 1 .3 extension, as well as .4 extensions (.html)

>3. File/Export Graphic ... Adobe Illustrator

Not sure what you mean. The AI export does not support all data from
PageStream.

>4. Zoom tool

I fixed the "shadow" images. The center vs corner is user configurable in
prefs! I changed the default on Windows to drag from edge.

I personally find the from center method much easier to use.

Works ok here.

>6. Program and projects have no icons.

Hmm. The installer must not be installing them...

>7. No hints (bubble help)

If you mean for the toolbar, you are correct.

>8. No right click access to common commands.

Not supported at this time (except in controls).

>9. About should be in Help menu (which does not exist yet).

I suppose this is important...

Aloha Deron,

If you answered my previous posts, I missed it.

In transferring my Atari to Windoz it fails because the fonts aren't
there and the default dialog box trips up the program resulting in a
crash every time.

When it is loaded into the Amiga PGS, they get to change the fonts and
when saved, will load.

Once loaded, by going through the Amiga first, the custom background
fails to be anything but black. On the Amiga it is correct (gray
stripes).

Any progress on this, or any planned attempt at solving this later on?

I have not been able to figure out the loading problem, but I'm still
working on it.

Fixed. (Windows specific display bug)

Mahalo Deron,

I am glad to see you're still working on it, another here has also posted the same prob.

I don't know, of course, but it might be a problem with anyone who loads a previous PGS document which calls for a font no longer used. As for that, for example, I find that I have somehow got hundreds of fonts in the font folder, many of which are variations on the other. I don't know where they all came from. But I'm going to delete over 2/3 of them at some point. If I have used one of the now deleted fronts on a PGS file, it would be good to know I could still load it up and just change the font at the last moment.

I vote NO on requiring .3 extensions! Word 2000 makes you jump
through hoops to avoid adding .doc at the end of filenames and it
stinks. This "feature" is totally pointless since much Windows
software is finally able (as the Amiga always was) to figure out
filetypes based on content rather than the idiotic filename
extension. Let the "Save as" dialog list all files unless the
user chooses to put a pattern in the filename gadget.

Draw a circle. File/Export Graphic.
Open the created file using for example Adobe Photoshop.
The circle is incomplete.

Create a new document. Select the ellipse tool. Move the cursor
over the document window. The cursor is an arrow (probably because
the focus is still on the Toolbox window). It changes to crosshairs
only when I click in the document window.

I did the above, but opened the file in Adobe Illustrator. It was a
complete circle.
