It doesn't do footnotes, but marks are used to create numbered endnotes.

You can reference them by number, or page number.

About text wrap, you are correct that you will get bigger gaps on the
left
than the right on left justified text. However, if the users doesn't set

justified text, you can't just go ahead and justify it! I'm not sure
what
you were expecting, but I consider the way it is working to be the
proper
way. Perhaps others on the mailing list would have a different point of
view.
