What about using the Windows keys? There are right and left Windows keys, which do map as two different keys... These are implemented on almost every modern (Post Windows 95) PC keyboard...
If you press them alone, they bring up the Start menu, but they are used in Explorer and on the Desktop for shortcuts...
You should be able to directly port over all of the Amiga's shortcuts to each side... Hope this helps... I actually meant to mention this before but was distracted before I could post...
