Interesting. I downloaded the 4.1.xxx Beta and get no fonts at all, but I don't have anything set in Gill. If you go to File|System Preferences is the Font option ghosted? It is on what I have here. I assumed at first that this was symptomatic of the no-text-showing thing, but perhaps it's just an unimplemented feature or meant for other platforms like the Amiga. The program does recognize the existence of the fonts on my system.
Your experience with Gill seems to be an anomaly. I just tried inserting some Gill on a blank page. No joy. Oddly enough I can select fonts in the Edit palette and, when the cursor is in a text frame, PageStream remembers that the frame is supposed to be Gill. I tried pasting some text from the clipboard, but PageStream crashed---twice. I then tried to import text into the frame and nothing happened. Finally I opened the document in a working version of PageStream, inserted some Gill, saved it, and reopened it in the Beta. Again nothing there and again the Beta knows that the frame is set to Gill. There are no characters at all in the text frames because you can't select anything in the frame.
(In case you missed it, Deron says he's gained access to a Windows computer which, unlike his own, exhibits the font problem. He thinks this will allow him to kill this bug in the near future.)
Deron:
Interface issue. When you open the Edit palette pop-up font list and type a letter in the Beta, it selects the first font beginning with that letter and instantly closes. This is unlike the (correct) behavior in working versions where the list scrolls to the first font beginning with that letter and allows you to scroll the list from that point.
