Hi!

The next update to Windows is available for download now. Amongst other
improvements, this version includes full Type1 and TrueType font embedding
in PDF files.

For Windows users with PostScript printers who are having problems with
slow print times in 5.0, I would like here how this version prints for you.
The Windows printer driver is the same as before, but if you choose
<PostScript File> in Print Setup, you can now choose "Printer" in the
output popup. It should be much faster!

Also, the Windows printer driver will show (PostScript) or (Bitmap) behind
the name in Print Setup. Let me know if that is not accurate for your printer.

Enjoy!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recorded changes to 5.0.3.1 Windows
+ Numerous Amiga 68k code changes merged into the main library. Some things
may have been inadvertantly broken in the process, hence the major revision
bump from ..2 to ..3. Hopefully no harm done!
+ Save as PDF now includes any non-standard fonts in the PDF file! TrueType
or Type1 fonts will be embedded in the PDF file. At this time, fonts
are not subsetted, so if you use a 4mb font, it will add 4mb to your file!
Methods exist to work around that if you want it smaller.
+ Changed <print file> to <PostScript file> in print setup.
+ Bug fixing input of special characters/accented character introduced in last
update fixed.
+ All effects modules, and most bitmap filters, got a small rewrite to fix
variable length passing for PPC based platforms (for some reason, LinuxPPC
doesn't appear to be bothered, but it could just be my good luck).
+ When exporting an internal script, if the file ends in .rx, .rexx, or .arexx
then an arexx script will be generated. If the file name ends in .py or
.python, a python script will be written. For now at least, other files will
default to arexx on Amiga platforms, and python on other platforms.
+ Added the ability to return some default text attributes using keyword
DEFAULT
** <fontname|MIXED> = GETFONT
** [DOCUMENT document | WINDOW document-window | DEFAULT]
** <size|MIXED> = GETTYPESIZE
** [DOCUMENT document | WINDOW document-window | DEFAULT]
** <width|MIXED> = GETTYPEWIDTH
** [DOCUMENT document | WINDOW document-window | DEFAULT]
** <value|MIXED> = GETBASELINE
** [DOCUMENT document | WINDOW document-window | DEFAULT]
+ Two more list manipulation script commands
** SortList(listh, [ASCENDING TRUE/FALSE] [CASEINSENSITIVE TRUE/FALSE])
** ClearList(listh)
+ When creating temporary postscript files, they are now force deleted when
done. Also, if an error occurs creating the temporary file, or an excessive
number of temporary files are created, an error message is displayed.
+ WINDOWS: can now choose Printer in the PostScript driver and output
PostScript directly to the currently selected Windows printer, bypassing
Windows internals. If this works for all PostScript printer users, this will
be incorporated into the main PageStream Windows printer driver as well.
+ WINDOWS: The Windows printer driver will now display (PostScript) or (Bitmap)
behind the printer name in Print Setup to indicate if it thinks the printer
is capable of PostScript or not. Please let drop us a note if the printer
postscript capabilities is not displayed properly here.
