I was tracked down the problem with running PageStream from the desktop
or a deep folder, and I think I found it. However, the stupid computer
died before I could test it. Well, not completely dead but it keeps
crashing. Don't know what _that_ problem is yet but my curiosity has me
on the original problem.

Could someone try deleting the bitmap.printer file from the
softlogik/printers folder and see if PageStream will then run from the
desktop or a deep folder?

What is interesting is that the problem has been there since the birth
of the bitmap printer driver...

This is what I did:
I made in My Documents a map like this (OK, it's Dutch, but that
shouldn't matter for this problem):
D:\Mijn documenten\HierWilPGSNietStaan\EnIkDachtHierOokNiet\PageStream
I started PGS 5.0.3.4: PGS started as usual.
I deleted bitmap.prt and started PGS: it started as usual.

So I made another map:
D:\Mijn
documenten\HierWilPGSNietStaan\EnIkDachtHierOokNiet\ZouPGScreashen\PageStream
The same result.

I loaded a document: no problem!

Any ideas to let PGS crash (come to think of it: what a strange question
Smile )?

I forgot to tell you, it is tested on Windows XP SP2 with all updates.

Just did what you asked me to. I'm glad to tell you, that indeed you have
found the problem, without the bitmap printer file Pagestream loads fine, no
matter how deep the folder is. Running on win vista.

cheers,

Dirk

Thanks Dirk!

At least some good news to start my day. Hopefully today will go better
than yesterday...

Hi Theo,

Thanks for trying, but this was a test for the latest beta, not the
previous! It seems that Dirk has verified that this was the problem. I
found a few other similar problems that are not causing problems yet but
I've fixed those as well.

Ok, now I just need to get my computer to run again without crashing (It
will crash just sitting there after a fresh reboot even).

Well, Deron first I should look for a new power supply in the computer,
if it reboots even after seconds!

Hope this is a good suggestion...

Deleting, or actually renaming, bitmap.prt solved the problem for me as
well. I can now open my old PageStream files without a crash.
