Hello,

A PageStream Amiga user has been running the latest 5.0.5.8 OSX version
in demo and has been posting a number of bugs and several of them deal
with "sluggish". I have no such problems but maybe it is computer /
other apps / or expectations that are different. Just wondering if
anyone else has a similar problem. The "bugs" are:

----------------

Scrolling with Apple magic mouse scrolling with finger swipes is very
unresponsive, sluggish. (bug #310)

Toolbox flyout menus are rather unresponsive, sluggish (bug #309) (I
_really_ don't get this one)

Seems rather sluggish for typing text, whether in text objects or in
text box. (bug #30Cool

About this (iMac): Mac OS X 10.6.4, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 1
GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

----------------

I realize that terms like "sluggish" are very subjective, but I'm just
looking for grossly unexpected.

Thanks,

Deron

Hi Deron,

Just downloaded 5.0.5.8 a few minutes ago, and gave it a whirl. Thank you for the update.

As to the 'sluggish' and 'unresponsive' performance, I note:

I would not use "very unresponsive". You cannot scroll from page 1 to page 2 anyway, so I don't use the "finger swipes" much. Compared to the response one gets when viewing a PDF file using Preview (for example), yes, in such a comparison PageStream is slow. However, at a magnification of 110% I can view an entire page and read it without problems, hence finger scrolls are rarely used here.

The flyouts fly out adequately here.

Not here. Beginning to type on page 15 of a document in which all text frames from 1 to 15 are connected, I cannot leave PageStream behind, and I'm an adequate typist though not a speed demon. Same for text objects.

As to "grossly unexpected", I've not run across that yet. Wink

I'll do more testing, now that 5058 is installed. Did not realize that there was another update so soon.
