I just bought the latest version of PageStream for my new OS4 machine Smile

I'm running into two issues though.

1. When creating a new document or opening one, I get a recoverable crash.
2. I created a document with all fonts to have as a reference, when I try to export it as a PDF I get a non-recoverable crash from a memcpy instruction in SoftLogikDisp.library

It's a fairly fresh OS4 install, including the latest Enhancer package.

If you want I can try to grab a trace/memdump

Which version of PageStream are you running? If it is a specific OS4 version of PageStream, such as v5.0.3.3 for OS4 then . . . good luck . . . you're going to need it! Razz

Only the MorphOS (most stable) and Windows v5.1.2 are as stable as you would likely need to be able to use reliably, IMHO.

I should add, that if you are going to use PageStream on an OS4 system then might I suggest you use the PageStream v4 (OS3) release, probably v4.1.5.6, ideally the Professional version, for which you will also need a you need a registration code, and an activation code (key) which should be supplied with the product as Deron included it with the purchase of v5 for Amiga systems. This is different than the Product Key you get with the purchase of v5 or Windows, which I assume is what you have bought for your OS4 system. Cool

I am aware that Deron supplies v4 with Amiga v5 purchases, but it seems he does not automatically include the registration code, and activation code (key) for v4 when he supplies v5, so you may have to send him an email to: support [at] pagestream [dot] org for him to send you the key you may probably require.

Version 4 is substantially more stable and useful for Amiga systems that are not MorphOS based, which is the only Amiga-like version of PageStream v5 which fundamentally works OK. Laughing out loud

Version 4 has many features that work very well, though some of the improvements that v5 will have are not going to be incorporated into it in the future. Crying (very sad)

It is version 5.x

I tried 4.x in my emulated AOS4 machine but it did not load correctly. I'll try it on my real machine and if that doesn't work I'll wait until my A1200 motherboard arrives and will use it with that.

So do you have a Next Generation PPC Amiga (OS4.x capable) or are you using an emulated version of that system - to use PageStream v5.x.x.x with?

An A1200 is a good classic Amiga to use PageStream v4.1.5.6 (PRO) with and offers very good DTP capabilities and is very stable to use, as long as you have plenty of hardware add-ons, ideally an accelerator of at least '030 capabilities and 32MB of RAM (which is more than the minimum), though more is always better. I used my system with about 500MB of RAM, an '060, Mediator with Radeon 9200 GFX card, and lots of other add-on hardware.

I do speak from experience on the A1200 as that was my main Amiga system, before I took the 'leap of faith' to MorphOS, and I have to say it was a 'leap' worth taking, as I haven't looked back since.

PageStream v4.1.5.6 works well on MorphOS, and I used it that way for about 10 years with virtually no issues.

What's more, is that since Frank Mariak (MorphOS Developer) got involved with the PageStream development for v5, which had been stuck in the 'doldrums' for some few years it is now the best of the available PageStream systems, IMHO - by far! Very Happy

If you want to stick with OS4 then do so, but for the comparatively low cost of getting Apple PPC (G4 & G5) hardware that is compatible with MorphOS, and if you want to use, and gain the benefits from using v5 of PageStream then MorphOS is currently the best option - without a doubt. Wink
