I just noticed Tip #42: Set the printer setup to /Landscape/ whenever
printing a Landscape page. What????

Ever since PageStream 3, we've been told "Hey! Printer Orientation
refers only to the way paper is fed into the printer -- not to the
orientation of the image on the page!"

Now, it's back to the old system, where the printer has to be told
that there's a Landscape page coming, or it will print it crosswise
on the page (I did notice that if you forget to change the printer
orientation, a landscape image is re-scaled to fit the paper. Nice.)

I suppose this has to do with 3-platform consistency...?

What? I have spend the last two days making a landscape document, and
PGS40r7 prints this just fine even though the printer settings are
set to portrait.

Ah: but you are printing to an HP6MP /PostScript/ printer, according to
your message of 4 June. The effect of Portrait/Landscape selection is
apparently different for PostScript and non-PostScript printers. In
my case above, the output was directly to an HP550C DeskJet printer.

Geoff, it is probably an old tip that Deron hasn't changed. The early V3 was
like that but I think it was from 3.3 it changed back to the "old" way. I
haven't got V4 yet as I just haven't got the time to play with it at the
moment.

I just checked my V3.4 and the tip is the way you say, but printing isn't.

Before you get too excited, I would guess that it is an old tip that has
not been removed. Tips were added in 3.0, but autolandscaping didn't occur
until 3.2 or 3.3 (I can't remember which).

Give it a whirl, should be no change in the way this is handled!

Auto-landscaping works on all three platforms!
