Hello All,

Can someone using version 4.0 check this out:

Create a style tag that has a modified text style.
For example change the shadow from its default of 50% black
Is this saved with the style?

I'm using 3.4b9 and it still won't save here. If I want a modified shadow I
have to manually apply that to the text in question.

When PGS loads it displays the default toolbar, even though I've customized
it. If I open prefs and click use, without changing anything, then my
customized toolbar comes out. Is this a 3.4b9 thing?

Can someone tell me if there is a ppd file that has margins that are close
to a Canon BJ200 printer? They are left 7mm, right 7mm, top 3.5mm and bottom
12 mm. The reason I ask is that I have turboprint and for postscript it
tells me to use a certain ppd file, but I don't get full page utilization
because its margins must be larger. If there isn't a ppd, maybe someone can
point to where a ppd could be edited to match the printer I have?

Thanks,

Kind regards

Not in the version running here, though I admit I'm running way behind on
the updates.

As of PgS4.0r7, a change made to a style does not persist beyond the
current column (or succession of linked columns). In other words,
if you have 4 pages of linked columns, and change the shadow style
on Page 1, that style will persist throughout that text to any
newly-applied style, but not to any text which previously had another shadow
style applied, or to any point beyond that change.

I tried this experiment: I applied a 30% black shadow to text on
Page 2 and green shadow to a letter on page 1. Then I deleted text on
page 1 until the black-shadowed text showed up on Page 1. I then
highlighted the black-shadowed text with the idea of changing
the shadow style. Instead, I just froze the machine (this happened
twice). Moral: don't get too *@#?! fancy!

No, custom fills are not saved with styletags. Known shortcoming of styles.

Yup, its a 3.4b9 specific bug. Fixed in 4.0.

Margins are not used in a PPD file in PageStream when outputing PostScript.
PageStream outputs edge to edge the PostScript output. It is up to the
PostScript RIP to crop it down to the actual printer defaults.

But sometime in the near future?

Sorry, you lost me. What is a postscript RIP, and does turboprint's
postscript options have such a beast?

A Raster Image Processor is a PostScript interpreter. It is a program
which takes in PostScript code, and outputs bitmaps for a printer.

So, yes, Ghostscript in conjunction with TurboPrint is a RIP.

However, the term RIP is usually applied to very expensive computers
which go in the network between the computer(s) and the printer and run
only this one program. The printer in this case is typically either a
colour photocopier or an ImageSetter (a laser printer that outputs onto
film, from which printing plates can be made).

The Fiery is a well-known make of RIP.

An ordinary desktop PostScript laser printer has its own interpreter
built in and doesn't need a separate RIP.
