Is there a way to use another dictionary in Amiga PgS? The one it uses is
awful & I'm being kind. In a simple single page file it couldn't find any of
the very ordinary mispelled words! The choices often have nothing in common with the word
being looked up. As old as Ppage is, it's dctionary is great. It almost
always can find the correct spelling & when you consider my spelling that is
a mind blowing feat <G>.

First of all, delete (keep a copy somewhere !!!!!!) the offending dictionary from the softlogik folders (where is it exactly ? I forgot); then :

1. Do a search on Altavista for "Wordlist" and download the best wordlist you can find for your preferred language.

2. Go in Pagestream, don't open any document, but go to the menu "Edit / Lookup Word".

3. Select the appropriate language, and Shift--Click on the button "Add".

4. A Filerequester will pop up, where you select your chosen wordlist you alredy downloaded.

5. Every single word of the wordlist is added to the dictionary.

You get a brand new dictionary.

I did it with French, because the provided dict. stopped at "i...". The only problem is that the spelle checker in Pgs is slow. The plus is that it automatically changes the language according to the languages defined in the text. Very useful for multilanguage documents.

Wordllists are frequent around on the web, because hackers use them for cracking passwords !!!

Now a question from me: Is there a way to add *languages *to PGS ? With a binary editor, may be ? (I mean, editing an existing language into a new one)

Meilleures salutations

The ProPage dictionary has its problems too. All the words beginning
with Ro are missing.

But you are right, it does work more smoothly. I advise typing and
spell-checking in Transwrite or Article Editor (Transwrite is better
because it allows you to open several files at once). Then use PGS for
layout and design.
