I think you have to expect little funnies when you use a driver for an Apple-special printer to drive a mill-run model.

This may be a problem in PageStream's generation of PS code. I set up some sample text (LoremIpsum) in several "standard" fonts and output the PostScript file with the 5P-5MP PPD. There were some strange font callouts in the file, which may confuse the printer (I don't have a 5P, so can't say for sure). Example:
/PGSHelvetica/Helvetica RE /PGSHelvetica-BoldOblique/Helvetica-BoldOblique RE /PGSHelvetica 12 12 0 0 false F k` 0 0 0 1 CMYK 190 622.413 M (magna) F1 /PGSHelvetica-BoldOblique 12 12 0 0 false F k` 0 0 0 1 CMYK 226.683 622.413 M ( ) F1 /PGSHelvetica 12 12 0 0 false F k` 0 0 0 1 CMYK 230.015 622.413 M (aliquam erat volutpat. Ut wisi ) F1
Of course, you could go into the Laserwriter PPD (it's just ASCII text) and see if you can find the instruction that ejects an extra page and delete it -- making your own private version of the PPD. If you compare the PPD's for the 5P and the Laserwriter, the offending instruction may be revealed.
