Hello,

I am wondering what font format PageStream uses and where can I put them?

I want to recreate the look over the brochure that my graphic artist did
in Adobe Illustrator.

The built in fonts do not contain the font that he used for me. So, I
was thinking asking him for a copy of the font so that I can recreate
things, in Pagestream.

Where can one look for public domain fonts that PS can use?

Are the fonts for Illustrator compatible with Pagestream?

Thanks

Joe

PgS can use darn near any font format. You can put them wherever you want, including installing them in system font directories. You don't say what platform you are using, but the following is completely cross platform.

Create a directory called 'PgSFonts' and place whatever fonts you want to add to PgS there. Then in PgS go to the menu: File/System Preferences/Fonts… -- this will bring up a dialog. Click the 'Add' button and select the directory where you just put the fonts. The 'Default Folder' setting can be ignored (it just determines where the file browser starts when adding a new font folder). Click 'Save' and you are done.

I wish PgS would automatically create font collections based on the font folder added, but alas it doesn't. The fonts are simply added in to the global font list and if you want to create a collection of them you will need to do so using the PgS interface.

Sounds reasonable, though I will note that you should check with him about the license for the font: he may or may not be able to legally distribute it. Fonts quickly get into an awkward area of rights.

Anywhere. PgS can use postscript, truetype and opentype fonts (and some others as well).

> Are the fonts for Illustrator compatible with Pagestream?

I would expect so. Nowadays most fonts are one of the three I mentioned above. Although font management remains an issue, fonts are largely interchangeable now.

Hello Tim,

Thanks for the help...

I forgot to state platform: Mac OS 10.6.8 PS latest Pro version for Mac

From the links sent by Tony, I found a website that has True Type
fonts. This site lists MacTrueType and WinTrueType.

Being that I am on am Mac, should I avoid WinTrueType? Some of the
fonts are Win only, that is why I ask this.

Thanks

Joseph
