Hello,

I am very rusty on PS and was always a beginner for DTP

I have three of questions (2 and 3 are similar):

1 - if I have 2 pictures in the same place on the document, how do I
tell PS which one you want on top?

2 - When I type a text, how do I get it so that ONLY the text shows up,
and not the whole rectangle surrounding the text that blocks (turns it
white) the image behind?

3 - When I import an image, how do I get it so that ONLY the image shows
up, and not the white (blank space around it) whole rectangle
surrounding the image that blocks (turns it white) the image behind?

Thanks!

Joseph

ps. I will have a few basic questions to get be back in the swing of
things. I hope you experienced guys do not mindSmile

Changing the stack order of objects
One step: Shift-f (Forward), Shift-b (Backward)
f (on top), b (at the back)
Or in menu: Object / Stack and ...

Uhm, not quiet sure what you mean.
At the bottom left of the document window, next (left) to Full Page (or
other) there is an icon which looks like a yellow pencil drawing a line:
toggle between edit and proof mode.
When in the proof mode you can't edit anything, but rectangular
surroundings are gone.

See answer 2.
If the picture has only a outline and a cross in it, it is probably an
EPS-drawing. That does not show in PGS.
If it is output to a PostScript file / printer it is visible.

In object mode (as opposed to text mode), select the rectangle, go to
line and fill and uncheck fill.

Hello David,

Thanks for the tip.

I have found a difference that allows mbe to have an unfilled object,
and the other stays white.

If I just type directly on the document, the background is unfilled. I
try to fill is with something, but the filled tick up box is already
checked off, and it is not filled.

I also have the opposite where I first create a text box and the filled
box is ticked off, and I can not untick it so that the fill is not there.

Am I doing things incorrectly?

Thanks!

Joseph

Be
sure to read Henry G Belot's comment: text block = frameless text.
