Hi,

Anyone know where the setting is to specify the default resolution setting for images left external?

Image placeholders on external images are very low resolution when imported and I constantly have to go into EDIT/INFORMATION to change the preview to "medium".

This is kind of a pain when I have 50 or 60 images, so I'd like to find the setting and change it permanently to "medium", but I can't find where this is stored.

Does anyone know?

Thanks,
Brent

Well Brent,

this is what you might call a bug.
But (!) why would you change the preview any time you open a document,
unless you are editing anything with that/those bitmap(s).

Too soon send.

Anytime you print or save as pdf, the full bitmap is shown!
So it is only a degraded bitmap in the view version (and less bits is
necessary when saved as document, that was necessary in the old days
when bit-size matter: do you remember those 3.5 " or even 5 1/4"-floppy
disks).

I agree, in the Amiga days I needed to use external images because of the low memory in the Amiga. Now on Windows it doesn't matter so much.

But on this project it is different. Since I'm working with over fifty full page sized 600dpi images, I need to use the images "externally". Even so, the file size is large, so I like to change the preview to "coarse" instead of "fine" to keep the file size down. I have found this to be extremely buggy. I'm leaving it at "default" quality for external images now. Playing with it seems to give unexpected results.

I see the point why you want these pictures external and view at 'fine'!

Now I had the habit of using all my drawings and pictures external. When
I updated a drawing, I didn't need to find out in what documents (!) it
is in, so always actual. Those documents also contain a few pictures
(bitmaps).
In those days I had those crashes more often (document window at the
out-most right and below, and small!). Maybe I changed the FPO too... (I
just can't remember this anymore).

Nowadays my documents are rather small, and I don't need the external
drawings and pictures anymore. They are now internal.

Anyway, this could be the bug for this behavior.
