I just switched to a new computer running Windows 7 64 bit (I formerly had XP) I have the download running from a Flash Drive, but it does not install on the hard drive. The instant I entered the product key the program window opened, but no installation to the hard drive. I can run the program from flash drive, except of course, I can't access the Windows fonts.

Obviously, I'm still doing something wrong.

Don,

once more: you *cannot* install PGS.
You can only extract it in a folder. That's it!
You place it where you want it (and maybe preferable not in Program
Files (for 64 bits!!!!!) or Program Files (x86) for 32 bits programs
like PGS).
So, if you have it working on the flash drive, copy the content of that
folder to a place where you want it to be (does not have to be the C;\
drive!). Possible: D:\PageStream5 or E:\PageStream5

Then you only need to do this (copy from my older mail, plus added
something):
> Fonts in File/System Preferences/Fonts...
> PGS uses the system fonts, but for Windows you must assign where those
> are (a bug). Add: C:\Windows\Fonts
> Switch off Include System Fonts (at least it is turned off on my
> system) and Save it.
> You can add more fonts from any folder on your harddisk.

This *must* be working also for you, Don!
Hope so! Smile

Theo - I know Windows is not always easy, but I guess any OS has it's
shortcomings

Hi all,

I must be overlooking something but try as I might I cannot find a
way to print out all my fonts so I can have a "font book" for easy
reference.
Any help would be appreciated.

Running windows 7 (64 bit) with Pagestream 5.05.08

Thanks, Len

This can be done with a script from Tim Doty. Place it in the Scripts
folder, and execute from PGS.
http://pagestream.ylansi.net/scripts.php and look for FontSpec.

Just in the menu Scripts.
Then: Play External Script...
Find FontSpec.py, click on it, click on Open.
If that works you see the Create Font Specimen Sheets. From there on
it's your turn! Smile

If that didn't work: is Python 2.7.# working on your computer? That's a
must with most (!) scripts.

It finally got through to me and PgS is up and running. Thank you very much, Theo, and others, for their patience.

/I see the icon in the tool bar/ but nothing happens when I click on it,
Play External Script is grayed out. I cannot find PY 2.7.# in the
pagestream folder. Sorry to be a pest but I don't know where to get it
or where to put it.

Thanks again Len

That means you do not have Python installed. Python is not included with PageStream, go tohttp://www.python.org (IIRC) and click the download link. There are multiple choices, but get Python 2, not Python 3. Download and install Python. Then when you start PageStream the script menu item will be available.

Hi Len,

Did you run the Python installer? PgS is just copied to wherever you want it, but Python has to be installed. When selecting an installation directory letting it go with the default (something like C:\Python27) is best -- it should be in its own directory. After Python is installed you will need to restart PgS for it find Python.

Hi Tim,
I installed PY in its own directory C: PY, I also installed it in
CRazzrograms (86)/ pagestream5/ scripts and still no Play external
scripts. Its size is 46Mbs. Am I confusing PS5 by too many places??
