This is a problem I have been dealing with for a year or so. I have the same result when trying to print from PageStream regardless of the version or printer device. I use PgS v4.something predominantly because I have all my fonts available and printing is workable using the PDFfactory pro driver. My OS is Win 8. I simply select the PDFfactory pro to print, which brings up the document on the PDF screen and then direct the output to the HP printer (of choice). Works like a charm but would be nice to simply print to the HP directly. PageStream is the only program (on my computer) that requires this step. Have tried outputting to every option/device I can select but PDFfactory pro is the only workable printer.

 I neglected to include the operating system in my first post.  I am using Windows 7 home premium on all three of my computers.  My work around is similar, save as PDF, open pdf reader, print from there.  Unfortunately, not all of the graphic effects are printed properly this way.  I am using PageStream 5.

I gave up trying to print directly from Pagestream some time ago and use the PDF workaround others have mentioned. I currently use Win7 printing to an Epson RX580. But as I recall it never worked with other Epson printers I've in the past either.
Yes, I KNOW others have it working with their Epsons but not for me.

 I have no idea if this will work for you, but it did for me using an obsolete HP laser printer that was designed to work only with a parallel printer port, which my computer doesn't have.  It also wouldn't print using a parallel to usb cable.

A tech friend of mine set up a virtual printer  port off the hp laser printer driver and it works.  I have no idea how to set up a virtual port, but it might be a possible solution for you.

I'm also using Windows 7 home premium on a quad core HP pavilion.
