One trick for this group is not to reply.
Just send a new email.
Otherwise all the previous stuff gets repeated
and makes everything more difficult to see.

File, Print Setup..., The choices in the Printer drop down are <Bitmap
File>, <Postscript File>, Windows.
Windows is chosen.
The Printer shows as "HP Photosmart 8400 Series (Bitmap)".
Windows Setup takes me to what it sounds like.
The Offsets are both 0.
Faster Output (Beta) is not ticked.
There is not anything else.
The only odd thing, looking at it now, is the Printer showing as above.
Why does it say (Bitmap) ?
The printer is actually an 8450.
Should I, perhaps, choose <Bitmap File> in the Printer drop down ?

I am not aware that I have any control over how the Printer shows.
In Devices and Printers, the default printer is
an "HP Photosmart 8400 Series".
All other programs print perfectly as expected.

Fine, if you don’t actually know how to edit your emails…
But maintaining the thread continuity is also helpful.

If you do that the print dialog will change slightly. The button that says “Print” will change to “Save”. That is because it will direct the results of printing to a file. The difference between printing to a bitmap file and a postscript file is that the bitmap file print results in an image — a picture — while the postscript file will result in postscript output.

While the resultant bitmap file could certainly be printed, the results would be poor at best. While 72dpi might be tolerable on screen it is horrid when printed. And a full page at 72dpi would be nearly 1.5MB in size. Saving it as a jpg would reduce the file size (considerably), but the image is still large and that is an issue for printing.

The better course would be to print to a postscript file and then print that (if possible) or convert it to a PDF file (postscript and PDF are close cousins) — or to simply save the document as a PDF straight from PgS. This last has been my usual course of action for some time.
